No way Disney isn't regretting making Turning Red a D+ movie after seeing Sings performance
Dude Seriously my daughter NEVER gets excited about movies (she's been to the theater once in 3 years......) I miss $1.50 USD movies in England.
Anyways, we have already arranged a time to watch with the family Turning Red. Guaranteed she would pushed for theaters. I can't wait to see it. Looks cute

Is China going to screw with the release date at all? I would think no way since they love it but they loved End Game and China has basically banned Marvel what feels like forever.
Without China it does less than NWH.

Covid has to still be making an impact on theaters and should be considered when the Bat numbers start coming in.
I had this conversation at work. People need to stop blaming Covid for their problems. It's been 2 years and it's time to move on. It just didn't do well

The climate was so ripe for Batman to break out. It should not be opening below Deadpool, an R-rated movie of a B-list superhero. It’s fucking Batman! You would be hard pressed to name stronger IP.
Yep, as a kid who loved Batman and Superman my whole life (loved them both just like Rafa and Fed) this is sad.

Um are we gonna pretend that's a good number and what are you hoping multiple will be?
250m domestic total would be pretty dogshit sorry. Damn I was hoping for a great OW. It's not horrific but it's not even decent either.

I thought that movie was 10 times better than far from home. For me it’s easily top 10 of marvel films. Approaches top 5.

This is assuming that all are released in China…1. Avatar 2
$2.3B
2. Jurassic World Dominion
$1.55B
3. Black Panther Wakanda Forever
$1.4B
4. Thor: Love & Thunder
$1.33B
5. Multiverse of Madness
$1.3B
BP 2 is in huge trouble with queen antivax and the star dying. Plus china will hate it. 1B or less

If Avatar 2 is released in China no chance. If not, definitely possible.

Hmm, I figured with the Q3/Q4 2021 inflation push it would be a bit lower.
ticket prices in non fancy theaters barely go up. Definitely behind inflation.not to mention its so damn easy to get a deal on amc movies without trying hard

lol yeah I'd be skeptical of shit like this
My brother in San Francisco is double vaxxed and caught Omicron last week at his job(everyone there got it got and is temporarily shut down) and its the sickest hes ever been, not bad enough to go to the hospital, but enough to knock him out on his ass for weeks. Also, a lot of people with mild cases of covid end up with measurable organ damage so act like the vaxx is the silver bullet at your own peril
Between work and family over 40 cases in the last 14 days. 1 person went to hospital unvaccinated. But I get media acts like we are all going to die. All or none for both sides at this point- 2

I strongly disagree. Despite the variant not having same impact as Delta its definitely a huge deal. Its R0 numbers are so bad that its causing hospitals to shutdown units which to be is not trivial. We hit 1 million cases today and that will have big impact at hospitals if they are ravaged as well.
That said I doubt movie theaters will close state side though some capacity constraints could be in play if spread continues rampant.
its 10-15x weaker than Delta versus vaccinated. Unvaxxed by choice im done with- 5

Problem is there won't be any new subs.
Disney is going to hit 200 million subscribers by 2025 at the latest. Netflix has been streaming since before the iPhone even existed and just hit 200 million.
Disney will likely be $10 a year/ $9.99 a month at that point too if not slightly higher.

I am not feeling FB3. The trailer did nothing for me. Hopefully it is better
FB2 sucked. I imagine this will be worse -

FB3 has bomb written all over it. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to HBO Max. If it's a exclisuve theatrical release, i agree with CJohn, no more than 70M
agree on this one -

Coming from the guy who said it wouldn't even reach 2B a couple of years ago. By the time release date comes around and we're in full hype mode all the doubters will be saying they thought it was going to do 5 billies all along.
@IronJimbo I hope you kept that list to shame them.
huh? I think 2b or slightly less is very possible. Depends on reception. 3.25 is 99% rotten tomatoes with massive china release -

This is Avatar we are talking about. The Re-release has proven otherwise
The first one took almost 10-12 years in making because of the technology and look what we have a pure masterpiece. Till 2022 December it will be 13 years and we all waited this long just because Jim didn't get what he wanted for A2 (The Technology)
Many times it has been reported by Media but people tend to forget it easily these days about News reports.
Underwater effects have always been tricky to replicate in any form - even shooting in-camera has its limitations - let alone with motion-capture, leading to major updates needed. Cameron says he's "cracked the code" on Avatar's underwater sequences, suggesting why production has now moved ahead.
In 2009 it was impossible to think this movie will ever make 2.8 billions. So, 4 billion is just normal for A2 I'll not be surprised if this makes 5B.
not a chance in hell it sniffs 4B. 3.25B is super bull case

It doesn’t mean that at all. No more than $2.8B in 2009 meant that.3d is dead, and novelty is dead. Characters are shallow and it’s been delayed half a dozen times. Think I’m being more than fair. Not to mention china is going nuts restrictions wise lately.

What 2022 movie if any do you think can beat out NWH at the WW box office if any?
avatar and honestly I doubt it does unless it’s earth shattering. Maybe globally it well, reception should be great abroad -

I think the weekend will be 140 mil, definitely see this movie legging out beyong TFA, maybe $1bil
675 is a joke. 1 billion isn’t happening either. Omicron numbers are going to be insane soon. Media narrative will be nuts. Glad it got a ton so quickly -

So assuming it tops out at 675, this is bound to have the ugliest legs among the mega openers of December 😌 so much for A+ magic, first EG, now NWH
MCU truly jinxed the power of Cinemascore
675? Are you high? It’s gonna be near that by Jan 1st- 1

Not sure why near 300 is a guarantee and 340 assumes great leagues. Granted I guess if everything that comes out sucks for 8 weeks straight
