Is there a reason why they're holding out on reviews for this one? Not really a movie that would need an embargo.

It is an underperformance for sure, it would've made more had the reactions been better, but we are not talking Solo levels here.

See... what we were actually responding to: Which is about Crimes of Grindelwald and not the next Fantastic Beasts movie. A movie that grosses $653 million isn't an implication that "nobody cares"

Considering they had a script for this by just Rowling, I'm gonna assume the final draft is now a Steve Kloves rewrite.

Finally something. Yeah Steve Kloves getting a co-write credit is a strong sign that they're making the right moves here. Though while I think he did great on the Potter movies, I'd prefer someone else take a shot. But overall, good.

I can't imagine many randomers liking it. It's so strange and takes its time, it doesn't feel the need to try and scare you the whole movie. The characters take such a center stage to the point that people will find it boring.

I could feel that being a problem for it a lot while watching the movie.

Oh fuck yeah, this was loaded and thoroughly entertaining. Up there with Gerald's Game for Flanagan, for so much of the movie you just sit there going "I cannot believe this is working". It manages to balance so many different characters and ideas but everything just works and comes together in a really satisfying way. It's not particularly scary, but it's emotional and thematically heavy, which I always value more. Talk about earning your pop culture references.
