  1. So this will be her Pelican Brief, eh? Man, can you imagine the heights Julia Roberts would have reached if back in the late eighties/nineties, The Hunger Games books had been a thing?
  2. I read the spoilers and I don't get it either. Doesn't seem like a particularly egregious twist. I actually think it makes the film even more intense and heartbreaking.
  3. All these complaints about lack of originality and cloning, yet you have expressed your adoration of the BATB remake, which is truly, hideously lacking a single original atom. OK.
  4. BATB grossed 200 m in 4 days? That must be some kind of record, right?
  5. Any chance of Hidden Figures passing The Help’s total domestic gross?
  6. I agree; the 1991 animated classic BATB is a million times better than any of those.
  7. I lived in Puerto Rico when Batman89 came out and the local media was obsessed with it. Almost all local sitcoms referenced the film and the character, and local variety shows had Batman-themed skits constantly. And I have never seen so many people on the streets wearing Batman t-shirts, not even in our current CBM golden age. It was fricking insane.
  8. I remember Titanicmania. Before that, the one film I recall being an all-encompassing pop culture force was Batman 89. It was inescapable all over; a true phenomenon (like Titanic.)
  9. Huge difference between calling audiences idiots (which I never did) and saying that they fell for nostalgia. We have all done that.
  10. Cool. Again, I apologize for my idiotic posts. I can certainly admit I acted like an idiot. I guess it’s not worth to fight over silly stuff. Thanks for understanding, and also, sorry if I came across as trying to tell you how to act. It was stupid, man. Anyway, have a great day. Can I ask a [silly] question? What do you think, of the upcoming blockbusters, will be the next one to break out in bigger-than-expected ways? GITS? WW? PR?
  11. Also, saying that a film is intellectually lazy is very different from allegedly wanting ”intellectually challenging” films only. Heck, I loved Twilight and Transformers, and those films are anything but IC. I also look forward to Black Panther and Wonder Woman. Anyway, this is my last post about this. Sorry again for acting like a jerk.
  12. Your job is also to at least wait a little while...just a little, man, before disdainfully calling a member "troll.” I just happenes to express an unpopular opinion, and yea, I admit that my tone was not roses and rainbows, but jeez...at least PM me before saying that I am a troll just because my box office acumen is not as sharp as youra. That’s what triggered my reactions...that message of yours in which you called me that. I have nothing against you, but dude, my ”bad attitude” has been partly because I hate that BATB is such a hit, but partly because of this whole insistence on troll-designating any unpopular opinion. I apologize for my idiotic behavior, ok ? I am genuinely sorry. But...next time I express my dislike for a beloved property and/or show what an amateur I am at box office numbers, can I be called a troll whenI am actually trolling?
  13. Love the passive-aggressiveness of ”hey, it’s his blahblablah opinion and [the subtext of] we have to respect it, god bless his little dumb soul for not riding the BATB bandwagon.” Great mb moderation lessons.
  14. Oh well. I am not committing suicide or anything, but it's a bummer that such an utterly mediocre, intelectually lazy and emotionally vapid film is making a killing at the box office; nostalgia is a hell of a drug. However, it is not the first time that the GA thinks a film turd is the second coming, so I'll just have to accept it and eat some delicious crow.
  15. Where on page 11? He never confirms any of the guesses (unless a like to the people who guessed "6 plus 6 plus 6 equals 18" based on his The Omen pic is considered confirmation of a number that he never mentioned himself). Just curious...
  16. 66.6 million for Tuesday? 6.66 m?? LOL Huge either way, for different reasons...
  17. This and Wonder Woman will be the most interesting bo runs to watch closely.
  18. A ”little” movie called Captain America: Civil War opened $24 m ahead of BATB and it did not clear 500 million. Also, Rogue One had holiday legs to help it maximize profits, which BATB does not have, so I am going to go out on a limb and say that it is also possible that BATB does not gross 500.
