Definitely. I wasn't genuinely embarrassed. That's just one of those bad calls I'm quick to call myself out on. It was pure arrogance too. I was on a hot streak on clubs on BOM and was convinced I was just right about everything. As I said, though, valuable lesson... don't matter how appealing something is to you and your friends, if the GP ain't having, the GP ain't having it.

WW's run is just giving me life this summer! Looking at a potential 35% drop coming off an inflated weekend? I didnt want to say it before but I really think 400 is happening. It's gonna be at 350+ by the time SM opens. Could be above 360 if it's weekdays are strong enough. I can't see any film after SM having all that much of an effect. I think it can definitely late leg another 40M.

Honestly, I've never experienced many problems with kids at all in theatres. When I saw Ratatouille, there were kids running up and down the aisles and that bothered me a lot at the time. I didn't say anything but the least you can do is try to keep your kids seated. The theater was empty and the parents just didn't seem to care. But, honestly, that's the only really bad experience I've had. Teenagers on the other hand can be the fucking worst. Have you ever seen a PG-13 rated horror movie OD? I never do anymore because the teenagers in the audience so often get ridiculously out of hand.

Meh... what really surprised me about Han's story was that the dad went to report and then aggressively told him about it. That's certainly not a very mature or smart move if you're actually looking to diffuse a situation. Re the whole kids debate. I don't know... one of those situations where I see both sides. I don't have kids but I worked at an elementary school for 2 years and certainly have a degree of insight into how difficult it can be to control kids. I can imagine taking your kids to movies can be quite an ordeal. Having said that, I was going to movies when I was 4 and 5 and never thought it was okay to act up in public. So, it's hard for me not to get a little high-horse-y from time to time when I see kids who just won't shut up.

This Wednesday release makes Transformers so much harder to predict. Normally, on a Thursday, if a high profile release was doing as weakly as Transformers is right now, I'd really be thinking it would majorly disappoint. Theoretically, it should be #1 on MT and Pulse. Or at least a lot closer to WW and Cars than it is. But who knows with this mid week release? Should be interesting. -

It might seem like a strange comparison but I see a Where the Wild Things Are type run for it. A decent sized opening but a quick fall. It seems like I always see comments from fans of the book saying it doesn't look how they pictured. -

Yeah, there's definitely room for a couple of breakouts this August (if modest). Especially since I think The Dark Tower is fixing to disappoint. -
Perfectly said. I really agree with this. Particularly what you said about the basic premise of the film. It's just not relatable. Which is what Bad Moms had going for it. The plot is zany and, actually, kind of dark and I really think that turned people off. Like you, I thought the first trailer was pretty good and I laughed enough at the funny bits but it seemed less appealing with the next trailer. Now, I'll probably just wait for redbox. I would imagine a good chunk of their core demographic feels similarly. And, of course, I also don't understand why they chose this weekend to release. Makes no sense.

The reason Grace, specifically, bothers me is because she is a fairly well known female blogger who perpetuates a lot of Hollywood's sexist narrative. She undermines and scrutinizes women constantly and, as others have said, she panders to MRA's. If she didn't perpetuate sexism against women in the industry, I would have absolutely no problem with her. In fact, I'd be a big fan.

Re: Grace Randolph... I feel like a bit of an ass for making this assumption but I think it's clear she has a lot of internalized misogyny. I always want to like her but she is just so unfair to women vs. men, it really does aggravate me sometimes, lol. Her analysis on Atomic Blonde has frustrated me quite a bit too. Her standards for women are SO much higher than her standards for men. Anyway.... she lost me on her last blog when she compared WW to The Mummy and said 'WW needed to drop 40% in its second weekend.' In what universe was that ever a requirement for any summer blockbuster?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Honestly, it doesn't seem to be doing much better than The Mummy. -

It looks like All Eyez does better at night. It jumped Cars on Pulse the last two nights. It was even #1 briefly on Friday. Not seeing Transformers pop up too much. It just seems to be selling really weakly. POTC was selling a lot more at this point if memory serves me right. Very curious to see when it pops up on Pulse top 5.
