  1. I remember people saying that and I remember wondering why was Wonder Woman going to fall off the face of the Earth when Guardians of the Galaxy 2 only fell 53% when it went up against Wonder Woman? It was kind of always going to fall hardish because it was coming off of a holiday weekend. It's drop wasn't unusual. There's obviously room for all these films and it's not like the number two or three films are over performing to some massive degree or something.
  2. I was a long-time lurker at Box Office Mojo and I remember people waiting for the bottom to fall out during Pirates of Caribbeans run and it never happened really.
  3. I'm not living in any other country other then America so I can't answer any of your questions. And I also don't know if Wonder Woman is having terrible legs everywhere else.
  4. I saw a lot of people saying that Spidey was going to give Civil War a boost and I can't say that I wasn't one of those people as I just don't remember. I doubt it was just one person saying that though.
  5. The vast majority of movies that are made are not superhero movies. It's the easiest thing in the world to avoid seeing a superhero movie. There are always other films to see.
  6. My baby nephews that I babysit sometimes like Angry Birds so I'm not going to say anything bad about it in front of them. But I had to get it out here.
  7. I'll just say this. I'll be on the Spidey is going to have these sort of leg train if the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday numbers are good enough for that. Also I think that they're under estimating the Sunday number.
  8. Didn't I remember people arguing that it's 15 million late nights meant 130+mil because it wasn't a sequel and now it's secretly a sequel? I'm confused about why people didn't think about this early yesterday.
  9. Both TDK and Pirates 2 are sequels. What's the excuse for a non-sequel dropping 27%? I hate to get finicky but those just aren't good comps.
  10. I don't get it either. The opening is good and I believe the film will do 300+mil but it was front loaded. It feels like people are grasping at straws to address why it was to make themselves feel better. I think any comparison to Wonder Woman is strange because Wonder Woman wasn't frontloaded. To me it's opening weekend multiplier is not a great sign for it's legs, no matter the walk ups. And I'm predicting it has a 2.8 multi by the way.
  11. I do believe that WB were surprised by it's success. Any studio would have greenlit a sequel by now. I don't mind that they didn't sign her for a sequel because she wasn't a big-time director at the time. So I understand it.
  12. We live in a world where Wonder Woman wasn't made because it was starring a woman. We live in a world where Marvel made two Ant-Man movies before making a movie starring a female character. Can we stop pretending like most people and studios thought huge success was a foregone conclusion?
  13. Disney and Disney Pixar animated movies still exist, illumination doesn't bother me. Also I haven't seen any of their films so it would be stupid for me to be bothered by them when I don't know what I think of their films. I've heard good things about some of Illumination stuff. Now crap like Angry Birds...I could leave that.
  14. It's like people forget that Doctor Strange which was an origin story and not a sequel or reboot got a 2.7 multiplier overall from a fairly big 85 million opening weekend. And although it's reviews weren't as good as Logan Wonder Woman and Homecoming's it got a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and we know people do not look at the average score that much. And yes Ant-Man had a 3.1 multiplier from a 57 million opening. Great but that's not in the upper tier of openings when it comes to comic book movies. It's harder to get that multiplier when a movie opens up with 100 million. No a 3.0 multiplier is not impossible and maybe Spider-Man will get one for all I know but I see no reason to project that it will at this time.
  15. Was it ever even a question that Spider-Man is going to easily Out gross Guardians of the Galaxy 2 overseas?
  16. If the walk ups thing is so important then why didn't more people walk up on Saturday? If anything doesn't it make it sound like the movie's word-of-mouth isn't that great or is only okay and doesn't match the reviews? I don't think the walk-ups mean anything by the way I'm just asking questions.
  17. I like the Fast and Furious movies and I know those aren't intelligent films and I know plenty of people hate those films as well and that's fine. But unlike the Transformers films I feel like there's some sort of heart in there and an effort that's being made. I don't even care about the Transformers IP at all but I don't like the Transformers movies solely as movies because I feel that there's soulless, crass, empty movies where you can feel the director's contempt for the IP and the audience. Also outside of the first movie I think they're just not entertaining movies to me. I often get bored while watching them. I'm only talking about the second and third because I haven't tortured myself with the fourth and fifth one. I wouldn't cry if Transformers 5 had made 900 million worldwide. I can easily avoid the movies so I don't care that they exist necessarily but I don't think it's a good thing that they exist because I don't think that we should be encouraging Hollywood to make movies with no heart or soul. Again if they make another movie more power to the fans I hope you enjoy it. But nobody can force me to even morally support it.
  18. This is a box office Forum to talk about box office. You don't have to like it but it is interesting how hard Transformers has fallen from its predecessor. Just like it was an interesting to see Batman v Superman collapse after opening weekend or Age of Ultron make nowhere near what the first movie did domestically or Alice Through the Looking Glass bomb after its predecessor made a billion dollars. These are interesting stories. It doesn't matter who is or who isn't gleeful that doesn't change the box office numbers.
