  1. Joker Thursday Previews This information is from Friday's sales, but due to Mom hogging all my attention, and then binge-watching all eight episodes of The Politician, I finally got it reading for posting. Joker Theater Today 9/23 9/25 9/27 Total % SOs Tele SOs Shows SM Cinemagic 9 14 35 44 2290 1.92% 0 0 16 Lincoln Square 13 120 1082 1312 1432 5819 24.60% 0 2 17 So this forced me to go through my data and clean it up for easier access, so that's good: v Comps T-6 Day Movie Sold % Est Southern Maine Cinemagic Joker 44 -- -- John Wick 3 46 95.65% 5.64M Godzilla 47 93.61% 5.90M Lion King 143 30.76% 7.07M Lincoln Square 13 Joker 1432 -- -- Godzilla 790 181.26% 11.42M Dark Phoenix 915 156.50% 7.82M Lion King 1595 89.78% 20.64M SMCM is clustering together rather nicely for a 6.20M average. LS13. SO, it's not going to make 20M on Previews. Yet it's a good indication at how pre-sale heavy the movie is at Lincoln Square. Only Endgame had sold more at the same time. (I don't have date to date data, but AEG was at 3000-ish on Day ONE, so nothing will ever catch that until Frozen or Star Wars comes out. The Comps are higher, yet they always are. That's my next goal -- to figure out how much higher they are on average. (This is more a long term, needs to be completed before Frozen, project.)
  2. @filmlover omfg i just got to episode six. ETA . omg @filmlover I just finished. I was like what the fuck was that. And my bestie was like: "that was Ryan Murphy, drunk on unlimited power and without an editor, no longer concerned with things like Logic or Appealing to Heterosexuals." So I'm definitely in the "It was Full Camp (Or Baroque as Ryan Calls It)" Camp. I didn't find any of it emotionally moving (aside from Judith Light's character) but I did find all of their arch acting and breakdowns delicious. I have most thoughts but they are all spoilers
  3. Okay I just finished the first episode and I love how no one on the show feels real. Every time Ben Platt has a breakdown I just die in hysterics. And I love how Gwyneth Paltrow is acting like she did a completely different show. It’s a hot mess. It’s Ryan Murphy without limitations and without an editor. I am LIVING. What glorious gay trash.
  4. This is where I've been privately (cause LOL @ going in the Joker Thread right now) for months.
  5. I apparently didn't catch this until now. I am starting tonight. I had my mom's Class Reunion tonight, so I had to help her out yesterday and today. I have heard mixed things. But my friend is like, "there is shit here you're gonna love for the LOL" so I'm still kind of hopeful.
  6. I think sometimes Priscilla gets overshadowed by To Wong Foo or The Birdcage. It shouldn't. It's got such a punk rock, 90 indie vibe that allows for some really honest and beautiful character work. Berenadette Bassenger is glorious. Even watching the film in 2018 her character feels like a breakthrough in representation (even if she's played by a cisgender man; but it was the 1990s). I love how the film never shies away from the prejudice and homophobia the characters face, but it refuses to wallow in it. It's not about Suffering TM. It's about two middle aged people, and their annoying Eve Harrington youth, on a road trip trying to figure out their lives. That's beautiful. Add in some fabulous costumes and great music, and you have one of my favorites not only of the year, but the decade.
  7. Gun Control Thread and And Another Mass Shooting Thread are the places for this discussion.
  8. What the fuck @ Shawn. Why you gotta do me like that?
  9. So, Tuesday on Internet? Well, that’s certainly gonna through off our overall accuracy percentage for the Tracking Thread.

  11. Abominable No Fancy charts today. I was out with a client all evening (FINALLY might have found my persnickety client a builder, praise jesus Kevin Feige). Abominable did not have previews at LS13. It did at Cinemagic and sold 9 tickets, plus whatever it sold at the 6:30PM show that I missed because my client was on a tirade about the school superintendent. 9 Tickets is a 100% comp for Secret Lives of Pets at Cinemagic.
  12. Joker Theater Today 9/23 9/25 Total % SOs Tele SOs Shows SM Cinemagic 21 14 35 2290 1.52% 0 0 16 Lincoln Square 13 230 1082 1312 5819 22.54% 0 2 17 Good update for LS13. The 7PMs for the IMAX and Dolby are front 2 rows. Cinemagic's IMAX screen picked up some seats. Everything else at Cinemagic is dead.
  13. The market/screens are there. If people show up, too soon to tell.
  14. @TalismanRing Thank you. That is wonderful. Did you ever do estimates/comps or just the hard numbers?
  15. I will say what I said to @Porthos. The last 24 hours haven’t exactly been a slow news cycle. More than likely the story will get lost in the shuffle, and the parties who know about WB and the theater’s decision will have already made up their minds either way.
  16. @Porthos Remember though, my LS13 comps will be totally skewed due to the combo of the IMAX screen and the fanboy rush. If you look at it as Cinemagic, first day looked like TLK, TS4 and Godzilla. Tomorrow I will go through my numbers again and look at just the IMAX screen for comps.

Massive day. As always, 95% of the sales were for the IMAX and Dolby showings. Because I'm embracing this 'We Live In A Society' Jokester Gibberish, I tossed up some comps. I'd toss everything but Endgame, Dark Phoenix, and Godzilla, so that's EG 13.92M DP 11.29M GZ 15.71M 13.64M average. Let's see if the range can go up, but right now Lincoln Square's looking at like 11.5M to 16M. And the theater's expecting it. They put it in all of the 300+ STD theaters. Gonna be a huge weekend. Should be fun.
