I think DS2 did a notably poor job of explaining things so that people who hadn’t seen WV understood what was going on and felt emotional stakes corresponding to a believable motivation and character evolution.
On the other hand it did a notably poor job of explaining things so that people who had seen WV understood what was going on and felt emotional stakes corresponding to a believable motivation and character evolution. So… I guess that’s a pass?
I think it was really quite obvious as far back as SDCC 2019 that the shows were on the same tier of interconnectedness as the movies. What “you don’t need to watch the shows to understand the movies” means is the same as e.g. you don’t need to watch ant-man to understand CW, you don’t need to watch DS1 to understand Ragnarok, you don’t need to watch Gotg2 to understand IW…
Not sure where 11 in 14 months comes from, it has been 16 months. 42 eps+5 movies in 69 weeks. There’s a little dead space there, but if you can’t fill it with quality content might as well not fill it at all.
Saw Encanto for the first time. Some of the same issues as Eternals, probably would have been even better as a series. I wish Disney would ditch their no villains kick.
Also I have no idea how We Don’t Talk About Bruno became a sensation, wasn’t too catchy to me. Favorite song probably What Else Can I Do.
Theoretically the existing attachment creates an even lower floor for reception if people feel like it undermines/betrays/cheapens the beloved character. Think TLJ.
I don’t think that’s remotely likely though — there were some serious warning signs for Eternals and DS2, especially if you were spoiled. 10 new characters and [redacted]. L&T is just a Ragnarok sequel from the same creative team with some well liked added cast.
It just had a bad script. It would be one thing if people who hadn’t seen Wandavision walked away confused or unable to emotionally connect while the movie worked well for those who had seen WV, but that’s not what we have here. In some ways the movie works worse if you have seen the show — hard to conclude that the integration is flawed conceptually from an N of 1 with bungled execution.
If Quantumania has issues for people who didn’t watch Loki or Marvels fall flat for people who skipped WV and/or Ms Marvel etc etc then we’ll have something to talk about.
3.1 is pretty poor legs for Xmas but it’s hard to judge holistically given that we had the biggest spike ever by a huge margin during its first 4 weeks essentially.
Quite expected course for Sat. Roughly a 60% true FSS drop, truly egregious. Gonna need some serious 3rd week stabilization to hit respectable finishes.
Of course you mean “the best character who has not transcended such concepts entirely by the sheer weight of their wisdom and compassion” in which case you are correct.
