BW was on PA in summer for established character, should be a world of difference with Shang chi. Fri/Th is going to be a little worse than mid 2010s movies but I think that reflects general consumer habits more so than franchise specific trends. I still think the front loading of the mcu is overblown — but this weekend will put that to the test, could cause me to reevaluate if we go 17.5-19-16-11 or whatever. -
Already had 🍍🍕 twice this week, but I’ll celebrate this opening with a 3rd 😄

I would like to beat F9 on the 3-day, but looking pretty tough. Still, going over 60 is pretty good and I don’t think the crumbling bar will be a problem. Good number 👍

Highest nonMCU from a quick search: The Godfather — 195 (holy fucking shit!) Lotr: TTT — 190 Shawshank redemption — 189 TDK — 188 Lotr:fotr — 186 MI:Fallout, DH2 — 185 MCU has a lot in the 179-185 zone, FFH and IM1 leading with 185. SC could set a new MCU record here. Must be said of course that movies which predate RT and movies in the verified era have a serious leg up on movies in between in terms of audience score.

I think their policy at this point is like “we’ll cut advertising that holds a lot back at first, if you care about spoilers a lot go OD cause after that we’ re gonna unleash the floodgates of more revealing stuff to try to entice people who weren’t enticed enough by the circumspect stuff” Expecting much the same from Eternals. Trailers have shown even less than Shang-Chi, but watch a tv spot on OW Sunday and maybe you’ll see an important 3rd act battle or something 😂

Oh, I didn’t realize that was before NTTD. Just thought of that as HT4 vs SF2 showdown weekend before ht4 went Netflix. Anyway I think realistically maybe 15 for AF2 and Saints, 9ish for Shang.
