Despite being a 3-movie sub-studio, Marvel Studios may well close the year out with a DOM and WW Numbers above most (is all possible? I haven’t even considered the possibility before) other full size studios — including non-Marvel Disney.

Throwback to 2 days ago when the forecast was a 5.77 internal multiplier. Now we’re looking at 6.4. Marvel don’t frontload.

It is absolutely true that OW record breakers tend to have good legs. There are exactly two OW record breakers that have had sub 3x legs in the past 45 years or so. Now obviously something from the 80s is not really a useful comparison — the nature of cinema and personal entertainment have simply changed, and multi aren’t what they once were. But if you go back to Batman Forever as the first to crack 50 (starting the CBM multiple of 50 tradition) 9/11 OW record breakers are over 3x legs. Even choosing the least favorable historical period possible, starting from Spider-Man 3, and 4/6 record breakers have 3x+ legs. There are exceptions, and reasons to expect IW will be an exception, but the tendency for OW record setters to leg better than 3x is very plainly there in the data.

You could offer him full creative control and hiring power over Star Wars and I don’t think he’d take more than 5 minutes to turn it down. Man is exactly where he wants to be.

Now this is messed up. Star Wars has the presales, but Marvel is the true weekend monster.

Oh my goodness, thank you. The MCU has been great, but Winter Soldier ending things in a way that Ultron couldn’t do the Banner/Widow stuff is one of the best changes you could make. The only woman Steve has had decent chemistry with after 1950 and they botched things up a year later.

80M would require a 61-62M Sunday depending on OD actuals, could be reached even with a 23% Sun drop. EZ I’m expecting more like a 76 Sat, needing a 65-66 Sun, 13% to 14.5% drop allowed. That is a near miss imo, but still in play.
