Yeah a lot of the issues with this one simply wouldn’t exist for a sequel for structural reasons. And I assume it would be more like 130-140ish minutes. A sequel could hit in 2024 but I agree 2025+ is more likely, so no rush at all. I expect we may see Black Knight in like 3-5 different projects before we see, e.g. Phastos and Kingo again.

Thor and Gotg3 should get there. They barely have to increase from the OW performance of the prior entries, but they should increase a fair bit imo. Marvels won’t need to increase much if at all either, but could drop depending on how things work out. Next 6 OWs over 3x hulk would be a fun club, think I’d go IN.

Sorry to hear that. The WW84 digression has gone on far too long, but is this really supposed to mean that discussing Eternals’ verified audience RT score specifically would be considered off-topic to the Eternals thread? That seems like a rather bizarre standard to apply if so.

20.5 true fri would be disappointing but probably still beats the meltdown bar. I think we’ll beat that fri by at least 1M though.

Usually verified is better, but there is an incredibly obvious self-selection issue with using the "I bought a ticket" score for hybrid releases -- most people who watched it did do without buying a ticket. Unverified is probably better for hybrid releases, and the ww84 unverified seems closer to actual reception.

I was actually thinking earlier that I suspect it would be fresh if it came out before her Oscar win (or she just didn't win).

Hah! Didn’t realize that would be a spicy take in any way. I like Sersi fine and I’m looking forward to seeing more, but the other 9 had more distinctive personalities (well, 8 — Ajax wasn’t too interesting but that’s different considering she doesn’t have to do much before dying). Sersi felt like “generically good person learns some surprising and upsetting stuff, is surprised and upset, reacts by doing generic good person stuff.”

Not hyped for that at all 😈 I’m hyped for PS Day 1, that should be in November I guess 👍

I think the film’s biggest problem is that Sersi doesn’t have much personality or character arc, and cutting Dane probably makes that even worse.

So the hype schedule is now: nov 12 announcement/trailer day nov 19 wheel of time nov 24 Hawkeye Eating good this month (though a little afraid they’ll botch WoT)

I think this is one of those things like shield in Iron Man 2 and infinity stone stuff in AoU where it might not be the best for the movie as a stand-alone but it’s the best place to introduce some stuff for like 4 years down the line. I know some people have philosophical objections or whatever to that sort of thing, but I am A-ok with them — when I rewatch this in 2028 before Avengers vs X-men: house of secret wars I will probably go “oh yeah, this is where they introduced Black Knight, season 2 of that show was awesome” rather than “what is this guy doing here.”

So the voice with Dane is confirmed to be Blade. I have to admit I’m more excited than I thought I would be to see the black Knight+moon knight+blade+werewolf part of the universe begin to shape up.

Don’t see how we could have expected shorter with this cast.
