  1. The original film did it over a decade ago, and TGM managed to do it this past Summer, so it would be a bit underwhelming if “the motion picture event of a generation” failed to pass that.
  2. At this point, I think a domestic total below TGM would be somewhat disappointing.
  3. If we define “soft-reboot” as them keeping certain actors from the Snyderverse, without following up on Zack Snyder’s plans, then I would’ve assumed that was already a given. By the way, going by Gunn’s tweet, I’m assuming the part of the article that he and Peter Safran are currently undecided on is whether or not Henry Cavill is getting a new solo movie. That always seemed up in the air.
  4. Oh boy, I can just imagine how unbearably smug all the anti-SJW Internet and media personalities will be if TGM wins Best Picture.
  5. He specifically said that some of the stuff in the article is “not true.” He just didn’t specify which parts.
  6. It really does seem to defy all logic that they would just do a full reboot. A soft reboot is one thing, but starting over from scratch with completely different actors? That comes off like wishful thinking from people who just want to erase all traces of the Snyderverse.
  7. The wait until next week when James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans are (presumably) going to be revealed will be unbearable.
  8. However the sequels turn out, I hope they don’t start introducing other alien worlds besides Pandora. Focus on continuing to flesh out Pandora.
  9. Perhaps that’s because they’re waiting until next week to reveal their plans? THR was speculating.
  10. It does seem like it would be a self-destructive idea to just go “all the movies we have coming out in 2023 don’t matter because it’s all getting rebooted anyway!” Plus, isn’t there a second season of Peacemaker in development?
  11. I was gonna say; Gunn clearly stated that he plans to do more with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and his wife happens to play a recurring character in the current DCU. Plus, he liked a recent tweet from Gal Gadot about how she’s excited to continue playing the character. Perhaps it’s possible that THR was simply jumping to conclusions, and that the answer really is as simple as “Gunn didn’t like Patty Jenkins’ treatment for Wonder Woman 3?”
  12. I’m not counting on this winning Best Picture, but I can see a nomination. This and TGM getting nominated for Best Picture is an easy way to guarantee that more people will tune in to the Oscars.
  13. I still remember back in 2011 when I was eagerly anticipating an Avatar sequel, only for that interest to wane over the years because of all the delays. At this point though, I’m more than ready to return to Pandora.
  14. JL was from a completely different regime. People moved past that, didn’t they?
  15. I would’ve thought we were past that. Wonder Woman and Aquaman still managed to have successful movies in spite of that.
  16. What sense would it even make to drop Jason Momoa as his most iconic role, just to cast him as a lesser DC character in a lazy bit of fan casting?
  17. Oh God, are those rumors about Jason Momoa playing Lobo actually true? That would be so stupid. Who even cares about Lobo?
