seems like critics were too nice to Joker after all. all those 3 films were panned critically.

I thought deadline recently reported the budget to be 64M rather than the initial 55M number that was thrown around? DP's budget is 58M.

disappointing numbers are usually up to personal expectations/predictions really, when I walked out of EG for the first time I wanted it to make 3 billion and it didn't therefore it's a disappointment in that regard. There's no need to get worked up about personal expectations/disappointments.

Joker seems to be overperforming overseas so Joker WW can probably match Venom WW-China (which is like 587M, and Joker doesn't even a China release as far as i know).

that would put full OD at 37.3M which is close to Wonder Woman's 38.2M but it's already more front-loaded internally so I can't imagine similar Sat & Sun holds. probably more like low 90s rather than a 100M+ weekend.

I meant to say Parasite is the best reviewed movie on RT this year while Marriage Story is on MC. edited it after your reply. also Netflix is a downgrade because most people won't be able to see it in a cinema theater. it has nothing to do with quality.

I'm not too surprised it's low. I liked the movie but it's way too depressing and nihilistic to recommend to anyone. Also the insights on mental illness could be triggering for some people.

IMDB uses an algorithm for their top 250 that gives regular users votes more value than overall to combat brigades. Joker is 8.7/10 on the 250 list so far. -
for someone who doesn't like comic book movies that's 3 too many.

I think it's the editing that made it more accessible and fast paced, it never felt like a slow-burn movie to me opposed to what I heard from early reactions. there was always something happening.
