  1. I’ve never claimed that I know everything so I have no idea what you’re talking about.
  2. does he not know that superhero movies are one of the few reasons why cinema isn't completely dead? does he want people to just stop going to the movies or something. when was the last time a non-franchise film hit a billion? (Zootopia and Titanic? lol) does he think if there was no Marvel movies playing in theaters that suddenly his movies will be making more money? I highly doubt it would make anything more in any significant way, people will just wait them out for digital release rather than bother to see them in theaters even if they have a wider release. if a movie has an audience it will find it. his frustration seems more about what modern audiences prefer to see rather than the what the industry is doing , which is not surprising of someone like Scorsese cus he's a boomer.
  3. hmm, interesting choice for original screenplay. I heard most of the praise was for the acting tho (and Dern's monologue).
  4. TOMATOMETER 79% Average Rating: 7.61/10 Total Count: 237 Fresh: 187 Rotten: 50 why is Jojo not certified yet? the score seems pretty stable for the past couple of weeks.
  5. quality wise maybe but in terms of popularity and reach no series will ever come close to GoT in the near future.
  6. or they could get rid of the foreign category all together and have them compete in all sections.
  7. that cinemascore for Harriet is surprising, maybe Cynthia Erivo awards chances aren't as dead as they looked after the TIFF premiere.
  8. https://deadline.com/2019/10/oscars-major-change-voting-rules-1202774058/ pretty major change to this category
  9. 100M+ would be a great opening for an animated film, F2 doesn't have thanksgiving to boost its OW like the original but this would be doing more than i expected.
  10. knowing the director's past track record I was expecting better reviews (Gerald's Game was amazing) but they seem to be decent enough I guess. does anyone know if you need to watch the original Shining to understand this sequel?
  11. not that bad for this much content but probably not a competitive price
  12. he's not making it for the CW, he's producing for HBO MAX
  13. what is this i'm hearing about a green lantern show on hbo max? GLC is something that should be on the big screen...
  14. Lol, you're the one who's calling those who didn't like Joker for reasons you deem invalid "braindead". also Captain Marvel is literally the highest grossing live action female directed film of all time and will probably keep that record for a while. no matter how pressed you are at Captain Marvel's success it will stay there.
  15. does the film's production country affect anything? Inglourious Basterds got a golden globe best film in drama instead of foreign
  16. idk if the globes have different rules than the Academy but don't they require the film to be produced overseas to qualify for the international category? the farewell is an american film
  17. you could've just said "people who disagree with me are insane" and saved yourself all that trouble. and I liked Captain Marvel as much as Joker for different reasons
  18. What difference would it have made if I knew who Akira Kurosawa was? (I know of Kyoshi Kurosawa who is apparently unknown compared to the other one) Would my opinion of Shoplifters or Captain Marvel or Cold War or any recent film lessen because I’ve seen a 3 hour samurai B&W movie from the 50s?
  19. first of all 18 isn't young, people can get married around that age here. second why should the fact that you've seen so many old movies mean anything? why are they better than more modern contemporary films? according to Letterboxd I've seen around 393 films and 316 of them are from the 2010s and I don't see what makes modern movies any lesser than films made from the 20th century. films like Parasite,I Saw the Devil, Roma, Captain Marvel, A Star is Born, Midsommar and Capernaum are as valid as anything made from decades ago.
  20. 18, but judging by how much people here worship oldschool movies and how almost every list ranking is for movies from the 20th century I wouldn't be surprised if the average age here is like mid 20s (or maybe even early 30s).
