  1. Lol, so it barely beat Oppie and couldn't beat Barbie...depending on actuals, might even be third WW. Also, GT is a true flop story OS as well. China and Italy should hopefully do well enough to get Oppie past GOTG3. Italy should hopefully do similar number to Spain. China I could feasibly see doing anything between 15 and 50 million, so GOTG3 (and maybe Inception) as a target will come down to it's performance there...
  2. Lol. It's a good thing we have the Indy and Flash uber bombs, otherwise this - and not far behind it DnD - would have faced far more ridicule.
  3. Meh. I don't think it's outright terrible or anything, but it's such a crap adaptation of the DP (for the second time) and the villains are so bloody terrible (obviously that was because of the behind-the-scenes issues with the Skrulls, but still). It felt very limp and small despite the stakes. And it never once is as goofy or have some of the outstanding sequences that Apocalypse did. LOL at the other movies you love, though. Jesus Christ...
  4. This. The choreography went out the window and got replaced with muddled CG piles of crap. And, worst still, they had a very engaging familial drama, with a good father-son conflict and ended up squandering it, by closing it out fast and then having another 15 minutes of absolute CG dogshit. That movie went from a 9 to a 6 for me because of that third act.
  5. So, double figures for Friday afterall... 25 should be a safe target then
  6. I would argue COVID was a good opportunity for a breather but instead we got a ton of shit thrown at us for the last 2 years, especially on D+. This has been discussed and argued and infinitum. But I remain convinced that they completely diluted the brand. Endgame was, as others said, a natural off ramp. Instead of slowing down, consolidating and building back up with a solid group of characters and few movies, to allow people to follow the rebuild, they basically went with all kinds of niche shows (coupled with less than stellar movies) and here we are. Wandavision, a better MoM to pair up with NWH, none of the Shang Chi, Eternals, Thor 4 and countless TV show bullshit, and build back up with your newly acquired heavy hitters. But...a lot of hypotheticals, as you said. It is what it is...but if it means we get more variety in our blockbusters, I won't complain.
  7. Guys, WB has a long term plan. Let me share it with you. It's brilliant. Burn DC to the ground. Make it so toxic that the very name makes people vomit. Stay in the wilderness till 2035. Make peace with Nolan. Have him bring Bale back as Bruce Wayne and do a Batman Beyond movie. Have that be the basis for the new DCU. Profit!
  8. That's terrible - not just the possibility of it, but the fact that it's now basically a way of life. Out of curiosity, what is the reaction to Oppie there, given...everything, including the rhetoric from orc lunatics regarding tactical nukes?
  9. As much as I want big comedies to be back, Strays seems like such a low effort for the studio, they may as well have just done it direct to streaming. I never once saw a trailer for it, barely any posters, etc. Uni seems to have basically gone "right, Mario killed it, Oppenheimer killed it, we can take the rest of the year off - marketing team, go home till the Oscar campaign for Oppie starts".
  10. Then WOM takes over with it becoming the movie that never drops, and plays like Titanic up till Dune opens. Makes sense to me.
  11. That should be happening throughout the world, especially Europe and Asia, where BB will be bombing hard... My local IMAX on Sat for example has 3 shows for BB and 2 for Oppie. The 10 AM showing for BB couldn't be any more obviously a contractual obligation fulfilment. It has zero seats sold. It's not an ultra kiddie-friendly movie, to have those extra early showings sell well. The 5 PM one has like 6 seats sold... Oppenheimer presales are massively down compared to its first 3 weeks, but even so it's way ahead. And BB is unlikely to have massive walk-ups (especially with the nice weather). I'm not shocked that the latest updates in the UK thread point towards Barbenheimer staying on top. OS drop for Oppie will be more impacted by the weather in Europe than by competition.
  12. I've never played that, I have no idea what it is, except I am genuinely curious when it was decided that Pratt will be such a prolific voice actor. This is the kind of thing that makes me think Hollywood cabal, not anything to do with child trafficking.
  13. I mean, BB will end up opening better than we were anticipating a few weeks ago domestically, but OS...ooof, it's gonna be rough. Weather in Europe is not conducive to cinema going, especially for this type of project, which will have little to no appeal. Asia will be mostly DOA. But maybe LATAM will save it a bit.
  14. 🤣Jesus. So, ya...gonna be the Equalizer that takes down Barbenheimer then. Truly insane run by this tandem.
  15. Nolan has really put in the (air)miles to promote this. He more than earned his %.
  16. To be fair, the lower expectations, with this being a small movie, not a multiverse saga, or something that cost 250 million and had an enormous spotlight on it does mean the 3/5 ratings that might be rotten with those movies end up positive here because "meh, good enough" is acceptable for this. A 6.6 average rating seems to be pointing in that direction...
  17. Maybe Blue Beetle will be embraced by audiences and have a 10x multiplier...but I find it more likely it fizzles out and cinemas at least end up sharing IMAX screens with Oppie come next weekend. But for now, ya, it could be in for a bigger drop than usual.
  18. That's pretty damn good for the top 2. Great drops from last week. Oppie with the softer Tue increase, but slightly better hold on Wed.
  19. I love people that talk nonsense about TDK's run. This was the fourth movie ever to crack a billion WW. It didn't have 3d or other plfs except IMAX, which were still far and few between. A lot of markets were still very underdeveloped compared to recent times, both in terms of average price and overall screen numbers. TDK was absolutely iconic in a lot of markets and was a proper cultural phenomenon. I lived in Eastern Europe then and it was still very much a hugely impactful event in real life, not on internet boards. A lot of people on this board throw words around like bomb, flop, culturally insignificant and so on without any real consideration for reality. Most billion dollar movies capture the zeitgeist in one way or another. Except Alice in Wonderland. That is just a wtf 3D wave rising abomination.
