  1. Dune 2 would have been a non-factor at the Oscars this year. Some here might not like to hear it, but it would have gotten lost in the shuffle against Oppenheimer, KOTFM and Barbie for all the techs and never would have even gotten in the conversation for the big ones, especially when you consider the little movies that could - there would simply be no room for Dune 2. March 2024 is actually a huge boost to its award chances.
  2. He can just comment on Phase 4 and sit back for the rest of the marketing campaign.
  3. I have no idea how to interpret any of these figures haha. I just want the bloody thing to do well enough to get past GOTG 3. I was hoping it would pass Bohemian Rhapsody, but that might be a tall order.
  4. Tbf, RDJ is also hardly a draw outside Iron Man. That's the thing - he's a major star, very recognizable, and he'll help a major ensemble production. But if I have him, Damon and Nolan, I know who's gonna actually get people in seats, and it ain't any of the actors...
  5. 100%. Its biggest shot at a significant increase is domestically (not saying OS can't increase, but the impact of COVID and day-and-date was far greater domestically), and the cast would be a major asset for promotion there in the lead up. If the strikes drag on, they may still decide it's worth it, with a significant IMAX window and a less-than-stellar MCU to compete with, but they are still very clearly in a wait-and-see pattern. For what it's worth, I think we're still in for quite a bit of reshuffling for next year, so good windows for it in 2024 will appear.
  6. It really is impressive just how much of a star Nolan is. A high concept collaboration with Leo would deliver insane numbers. I very much doubt he would do it, nor would I want it to happen (given I'd rather he do new stuff), but an Inception 2 I reckon does a billion+ OS alone.
  7. That was GT. Which is still getting the IMAX screens. But I'd be shocked if Oppie didn't keep at least a showing per day in IMAX.
  8. WB announces Puerto Rican Barbie The Musical, starring Selena Gomez and songs by Lin Manuel Miranda.
  9. The issue is I expect half those sequels to outright flop. Though as you said, better than Oct.
  10. My understanding is that it's gonna play wide and for a decent enough window. I wouldn't expect it on Apple TV+ before Christmas, but I'm really unsure.
  11. Even with a 4 hours runtime, 300 is doable, considering previous collaborations with Scorsese have been solid hits. Nolan and Leo should make another movie again.
  12. I see this talk about sneaking concessions in and meanwhile here I am in the UK, sometimes buying stuff if I forget to bring anything but usually getting a huge bucket or bag of popcorn from a supermarket, along with some maoams or jellybeans and drinks. Just..you know, walk in with the Tesco bag.
  13. Logan Paul? LOL. But seriously, that's common throughout the world. You see it all the time on the internet with Oppenheimer, with people saying it wasn't worth it in IMAX, as they don't get the value of it in terms of the detail it provides and how much you can get from close ups on a massive canvas. With a long drama that is so dialogue-heavy, the huge screen and resolution takes the acting to a whole other level (especially when so much of the acting is down to facial ticks, movement of the eyes, etc). And I don't mean that they just "don't get it". It simply is what it is - not everyone will see the value in IMAX unless something blows up. Fair enough...
  14. Then it's National Cinema Weekend. Then National Cinema Week. Then before you know it, everyone will want 4 dollar tickets all day, every day, and it will be anarchy!
  15. Here's hoping Oppie does Spain-like numbers. Need a good result, to get it over GOTG3
  16. Still a Barbenheimer world, baby. Look at those sexy drops.
  17. Ya, what's crazy is that this is happening at the same time as a £50+ million earner. Truly insane month at the cinemas.
  18. Don't worry guys, if the DCU fails with Superman Legacy and the Brave and The Bold, Zazzie is gonna sell DC. Probably to Apple. That will solve all issues.
  19. Fuck me, it's gonna be an exhausting couple of years with all the DC discussions.
  20. It's effectively a coproduction so I'm sure the revenue split is more generous than your average Hollywood release.
