  1. 990k Approx admits in usual locations. Just crazy. Overall 1.35-1.4mn Approx. That will $17.25-18mn Approx.
  2. Weekend record in single day. I am not able to recall something of that sorts anywhere. The closest I can think of is Baahubali 2 OD of ₹138cr when previous weekend record in India was ₹147cr. Though if adjusted for the fact that Japan weekend is 2 days, and not 3 like India, Baahubali 2 did achieved that. It's almost in same rank in that case.
  3. Week 28 10-16 October 2020 Movies A Death in Gunj: Nice little film from Bollywood. Heard a lot about it when it released, finally watched it, and it was good. 7/10. TV The Haunting of Hill House: This was suggested to me in past, but didn't really bothered. The bump due to sequel made me watch it, and it was good. The ending was bit different that what I thought show was building. It feels like elements of The Shining and Doctor Sleep clubbed in one with setting of a family, and that is a winner. 8/10.
  4. There will be long time till population will have any impact due to low screen count. Demon Slayer had one show for 13.6k people for single day. As compared to Endgame in USA there was one show for 3.5k people. In China ratio is usually 5.8-6k for big films.
  5. Never say Never. I mean, DS has 61% showtimes at usual locations. There can be more.
  6. At 18:45 465k admits on usual locations. There are shows worth 320k seats remaining, the occupancy of those will be 80% or more, which means we are looking at 720k day in usual locations. MASSIVE. The previous record was 569k and only time a film ever crossed 500k. And here this film is crossing 700k.
  7. I would have been worried if the theater going audience was into these theories. There are 7-10cr people in India, that goes to theaters, I don't think majority of those care about what Arnab shouts on TV.

  9. Initially in I think it was 4th weekend. I thought they adjusted the ATP for full run as it may be initially underestimated. But then next weekend it increased again. Then again. Then again. I wonder if they will make it $25mn on 2.5mn or lower admits.
  10. Disney is writing off Fox Star in India and will not produce any local film. Was expecting this as soon as Disney acquired Fox. Wondering if Hotstar will go down too, with only Disney+ branding.
  11. Few theaters reopened today, many will reopen tomorrow but in absence of new releases there is no business to report. Re-releases have no scope here. At this rate, I expect theaters to close by Monday again and reopen when new film releases. May be Dussehra or Diwali.
  12. Endgame though crazy in money, did not had single day admit record on any day. In hindsight, 5 days weekend took us from crazy single day records. Though if we add midnight to OD, that will give 13.8mn admits, number 2 behind Monster Hunt 2 OD of 14.2mn, but ahead of F&F8 13.2mn. Endgame in US, UK is more likely. Baahubali 2 in India had 27mn admits in FSS when previous record was barely 10mn.
  13. It will cross 3mn admits in 3 days, when no film till date has even cross 1.7mn. This is even crazier than what Endgame did in USA, considering how Japan and USA are two most saturated markets when we see in opening weekend admits. Edit - LOL. No film has ever crossed 1.5mn admits either. Yo-Kai Watch had 1,484,916 admits in first weekend but only Saturday and Sunday release.
  14. Chain wise breakdown of Demon Slayer TOHO: 175,129 / 510,611 34.3% 109: 36,537 / 85,757 42.6% KINEZO: 4,341 / 138,040 32.1% MOVIX: 73,919 / 148,181 49.9% UNITED: 64,966 / 208,634 31.1% Total: 394,887 / 1,091,223 36.2% The number of seats in the AEON system is about 230,000, so even if the sales rate is less than 25%, The number of seats sold is already over 450,000. It is a certain situation without waiting for Saturday and Sunday to exceed 569,492 seats of 2019/12/1 " Frozen 2" which became the highest record in history .
  15. In fact the biggest Saturdays are as follow. It is already no. 2 on Friday pre-sales.
  16. On 175 theaters (47% of total), Demon Slayer has 394,887 admits in pre-sales in 4299 shows with 36% occupancy. And that is not even final, just at 6PM. Holy Shit! That is equivalent of 550k advance sales on usual 70% locations and overall 750k approx already. That right there is the Friday opening record in pre-sales The biggest Friday opening day I can remember is Endgame at 247k. Detective Conan movie in April 2019 had just 179,626.
  17. TENET has over 102k seats available on Friday as compared to 148k last Friday, so guess it will hold well enough.
  18. Corpse is saying 1mn admission a day is expected on all three days. That will be $12-13mn a day. Previous record was Frozen 2 $8mn Approx on 2nd Sunday.
  19. (Dec., 2015)520,369, [237/1,744] - Jurassic World (Aug., 2015)517,134, [260/1,835] - Spider-Man: Far From Home (June, 2019)515,406, [233/1,460] - Doraemon: Nobita and the Birth of Japan (Mar., 2016)501,322, [240/1,487] - Doraemon: Nobita's Great Adventure in the Antarctic (Mar., 2017) That's no typo. Over 6,100 showings at the usual locations (~70% of the market), resulting in an average 23 showings per theater (14 was the old record...). It was definitely going to be the widest release ever from just looking at various theaters this week, but it basically doubled everything! And Saturday's numbers are likely to be even bigger. All the other films above are their first Saturday numbers because it was higher than their Friday, since Saturday traditionally allows for more seating/showtimes. So when Demon Slayer's Saturday seating comes out tomorrow, it'll be even higher in comparison.
  20. Since even local releases have started to release on Friday, I think they should change weekend from Sat-Sun to FSS.
  21. Naa except for the popular in West animes, Japan culture is alien to me.
  22. I have no idea what it is, but will like to see something break some record, more so since that record at times felt virtually impossible.
  23. The highest single day record is with Frozen II I reckon. ¥846mn Approx & 790k admits on its second Sunday which was discount day. The usual location admits were 612,645. If opening weekend record is falling, revenue gross will easily fall. Am interested if admission record will fall too.
