Yeah comScore numbers are shielded but I don't think folks at that level won't know the numbers. I mean we have almost the numbers for two MTCs and we are way below what resources they have. Yeah cS isn't revealing numbers, but MTCs and other chains have their own numbers, which rival studios can easily get. The concerning thing is last part. What if all studios follow it and who says they can't continue it in normalcy. Then as box office community we are fucked. FWIW, as per our tracking, we have $2mn TENET 2nd Friday.

The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

I read somewhere that MTC2 can survive with 10% occupancy, this is doing 6% on a Friday that too with lower theatre share in gross. TENET may play for months but if occupancy gonna stay at this level, they better close or do like only prime time show. That won't help fixed cost but may help variable cost and increase occupancy a bit. -

Week 23 05-11 Sep 2020 Movies Blade Runner: So I wanted to do Denis Villeneuve filmography this week, for that watched this, which I had on hold for so long. This was painfully slow but that is not a major problem if characters and story are interesting which is where it didn't worked for me. BGM was ugh. The whole setting of dark and wet is not my cup of tea. May be after 30 years I will also like it. A very lenient 4/10. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri: This is a great film. Donno why I was keeping it on hold for so long. The other work of director seems nice too, will check that out this week. 8/10. And that's it? In my head I watched more films last week. TV The Boys S02E04: Yeah going well. At this point am not even a bit interested in what Boys do, only Seven is what that matters and good thing being this had more of that. Stormfront is done well. Let's see how rest of season go. As for the Indian movie I want you guys to check out this week, it is TUMBBAD. The film is very well done and looks good too for something made in less than a million dollar. If you like stuff like Pan Labyrinth, don't miss it. IMDb: 8.3/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 87% with 23 reviews (that's actually surprise now that I am looking, it got so many reviews) Hollywood Reporter says "Atmospheric, heavy on mythology and scary as hell." It is available of Prime Video and guess on Playstore and Itunes & stuff. Trailer -
What's funny? And what sucking? It is common for any film to thank government of the region they shot the film. Since you are from India, you may know what a jerk Yogi Adityanath is and Bollywood liberals like Anubhav Sinha have been vocally against BJP but in all his films you will read "Thank You CM Yogi Adityanath" because that's what is done for any film shot in UP.

TENET Performance analysis China: Average. Around Dunkirk, less than half of Interstellar and what was expected. Asia: Asia is mixed bag. Korea was expected to be huge but has disappointed big time with total gross to be less than what expected weekend was. Taiwan has done well though, will be highest grossing Nolan film beating Interstellar. In South East Asia, Thailand and Vietnam are decent to good while Singapore and Malaysia are average. Will open in Hong Kong this weekend. Japan and India are the other two major markets left, India perhaps October opening, Japan September 18 start. Middle East: Saudi is new market and doing well. Will most likely reach $10mn as there won't be much competition. UAE is trailing behind Dunkirk, which is an average result. Turkey is still in reopening 1st stage. Qatar open this weekend. Overall Middle East is Average. Oceania: Oceania does well for Nolan generally. TENET is doing quite okay and can leg out to $12-15mn, hoping Victoria reopen soon, but that will be only half of what Dunkirk did. Europe: The Big 5 will get very close to Interstellar and Dunkirk, so its very good. Ofcourse Dunkirk in UK ain't happening. In many smaller countries, TENET will beat them and even Inception too. UK will perhaps reach $20-25mn, which is a good number, around Interstellar in local currency. In France, it will most likely reach $16-17mn, which will be 80% of Dunkirk and Interstellar, that's good. Germany has already beaten Dunkirk and will reach very close to Interstellar, expecting $16-18mn. Italy and Spain will be $7mn and $8mn respectively, around 80% of D & I. Netherlands, Nordic countries are doing great, will very soon cross Interstellar and Dunkirk.
