  1. 2 production company are from US. So sorta collaboration. That make me wonder about stuff like The Lunchbox as well. But The Lunchbox didn't had any Hollywood studio. Just some French producers. I guess shall allow either non-US productions or non-English films no matter who made. The latter seems better and ideal. The first language of film to be Foreign.
  2. A suggestion, Since many users would have watched limited films, you can use weight system. Like there will be users who list 100 films as usual but some may list 10, 15 or even random numbers like 33 films. For such lists, take the number of films listed and divide by 100. Use the ratio to weight the films ranked in list. For instance. No. 1 film is 50 points, no. 2-5 40 points, 6-10 35 points, 11-15 30 points and so on. And someone give 13 films. 13/100. His 1st film will have 50*13/100 = 6.5 points, 2-5 films 5.2 points and so on. That way, a person who has watched only limited films won't be impacting the Ranking more than it should.
  3. If Endgame & Infinity War growth are ignored, Hollywood's growth is really overrated. Bollywood in 2007 opening record was ₹8.5cr in 2015 ₹50cr & in 2019 ₹60cr. Hollywood in 2007 official number are ₹6.65cr, ₹16.73cr in 2015 while non-Avengers is still ₹16.73cr only.
  4. Hollywood Opening Day record progression in India Spider-man 3 (2007): ₹6.64 crore ($1.64mn) 2012 (2009): ₹7.75 crore ($1.75mn) +17% The Amazing Spider-man (2012): ₹8.80 crore ($1.5mn) +14% Iron Man 3 (2013): ₹9.27 crore ($1.63mn) +5% The Amazing Spider-man 2 (2014): ₹9.77 crore ($1.63mn) +5% Furious 7 (2015): ₹16.73 crore ($2.7mn) +71% Avengers: Infinity War (2018): ₹40.57 crore ($6.3mn) +142% Avengers: Endgame (2019): ₹63.83 crore ($9.14mn) +57%
  5. If I was in USA and 29.99 was what I earn in 2 hours, I will without any issue. India that will be like paying $1 at similar pay and I will do it now if they release it.
  6. Trolls got near 5mn people spend $20 for it. Can a Mulan get 10mn but for $50 each? If so I think PVOD is way forward, as $50 each for 10mn would be $350mn for Disney. That's something they would have got from $1Bn box office assuming $350mn of that is from China. And if Trolls really had $100mn outside USA, may be Mulan could pull up as well. Also $50 ain't bad either. A usual movie for family would cost $30-50 in tickets + transit + F&B. Even going solo $9-13 for tickets + transit/parking + F&B.
  7. Again for same reason. I used to think that yeah may be HP can do 300 but today I realised it's not even close. Yeah HP 8 had record weekend but it's still 2nd biggest Non-Disney weekend after 9 years. HP8 did $125mn FSS and $43mn Midnight. That FSS number is 69% of The Avengers just an year ahead. Outside Endgame, Infinity War has biggest FSS of $218mn, I think HP 9 will at best be looking at 70% of that, which is roughly $152mn and somewhere around $55mn midnight. So in the end of day HP9, might just be able to post $210-220mn ish domestically, if released today, ofcourse not today as you know COVID, you know what I mean.
  8. Since Endgame weekend thread is closed, this seems like right place to answer. As per available data I have, TFA previews were $54mn Approx while Friday was $65mn Approx.
  9. won't say its not possible. Onward was down to 30-35% of its potential in its 2nd weekend before theaters closed.
  10. Week 7 16 - 22 May 2020 Another low week. Movies Scoob: Good animation, very little nostalgia for me in overall simple and boring film. 4/10 Sufna: Rewatch. My experience was similar as previous rewatch with otherwise okay film lacking re-watch ability but watching it with company of relatives helped it. They liked the film. 6/10 Parasite: Rewatch. Nothing to add or less from my previous watch. The company, not into foreign language film, so had to push them initially, though they were fully into by the time Jessica is hired. Couch scene was bit awkward, overall they liked it. 8/10 Hell or High Water: The motive behind robbery was dumb in otherwise slow paced film, which gets intersting in 2nd act and again go down a bit in the end. 5/10 Movie of the Week: Parasite TV Rick and Morty: S04E08: Just in the starting of episode, was thinking that Rick has gone soft and Morty is growing up and we had this episode with Rick showing he is still the grand daddy. I watched the Morty doing time thing in morning on Twitter so that cheapened the experience during the episode but overall this was finally a good episode after 3 average episodes.
  11. Prime Video's Breathe came too early before OTT boom in India. The way people hype the TV series now, that would have been considered as Masterpiece. The best series from India outside TVF with a margin.
  12. 3mn on WB YT channel (+2.5mn in other) 5mn Twitter 2.5mn FB Total: 13mn China may be big. I expect 25mn overall views.
  13. TV Spots are cheaper now at least in India. Saying so because I don't think we will have an opening in July so the promotion cost is probably gonna sink. May be December release when whole world is back or atleast majority of it.
  14. the song single handely stopped the duet songs and Miss Pooja craze in late 2000s. changed Punjabi music industry in entirety giving rise to solo singers and rappers like Honey Singh.
