  1. Yes!!!! I hope they do!! Seriously, nothing would make me happy than the WW sequel following that same CM narrative (Trolls hate on it, the film still makes a billion dollars) just so they can feel even more powerless. I mean, at some point they are going to realize that their idiotic campaigns are pointless, right?
  2. I apologize, Napoleon. That was just a stupid comparison and I actually take responsibility for it. I admit that I did, with that comment, what many people do here with you, which is mock you and dismiss you for being extremely passionate about the DCEU. Since saying that the Snyder DCEU properties are awesome is not a popular opinion here, everyone feels empowered to attack you and laugh at you for it. But I only meant that you and him are similar in your extreme passion for your respective cinematic universes. I gotta give you credit for "admitting" that you loved AMATW just like I give him credit for admitting that he enjoyed Wonder Woman and Aquaman. In any case, I am sorry. I won't do that again.
  3. One motherfucking billion dollars for Captain Marvel (well, only ten million dollars away as of this weekend). Evidently, Brie's hatred of white men had a horrible effect at the box office. While the alt-right anti-superheroine trolls lick their wounds and scratch their heads trying to understand why CM became such a global smash despite their "best" efforts, fans of CBMs and especially fans of superwomen in CBMs can rejoice about the infinite possibilities that Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel will inevitably lead to.
  4. An immortal is someone who cannot die. It's quite simple. The whole "peak physical form" is all you making up stuff. But sure, keep hiding your double standards and low-key sexism behind your made up definition of "immortal." Next.
  5. Whether it passes WW or not, CM has not captured the pop culture zeitgest in the manner that Avengers, BP or WW itself did. For example, nothing in CM is even 1/8th as memorable as the already iconic Avengers Assemble (in Avengers) or No Man's Land (in Wonder Woman) scenes. This whole WW v CM box office 'fight" is yet another example of how a film's box office is not intrinsically linked to the mark it leaves in pop culture or audiences memory. Think about how much people remember and reference films like Carrie, Austin Powers, and Thelma and Louise. Nothing in CM (a movie that made more money in its first three days than the combined domestic totals of all three of those films) will stand the test of time like those movies have.
  6. I think the very first people who planted the seed of that were the CM fans who for some inexplicable reason kept bringing up WW as a box office comparison, when Hunger Games or BATB was a more apt analogy. I recall many posts with "so and so millions till CM reaches WW's domestic total...CM has surpassed WW's WW total...so many millions away from WW's domestic...etc"
  7. Ah....how cute... I am sure that one can find horribly unflattering, wrinkle-enhancing pictures of any actress of any age (Gal Gadot, Brie Larson, Elle Fanning, et al) to prove some sexist out-of-touch non-point about who can play a fictional character...,I bet you had no issue with any MCU guy in his forties and fifties playing superheroes. Next.
  8. That would be an "Ouch" moment for the DCEU if Feige actually snatched Cavill for their Eternals film. And imagine Grace Randolph's reaction!!! LOL It will at least guarantee that Cavill will finally play a superhero in a decent film.
  9. I think the intent of Marvel was to somehow prop up Steve as this paragon of strong-willed virtue and to convey that the human spirit is stronger than any superpower or whatever. Even against a cosmic deity. Meh. It still was a ridiculously fucked up internal logic misstep in an otherwise awesome movie.
  10. Yeah, as much as it is ok to suspend disbelief for all these fantasy film, the internal logic of Thanos easily beating Hulk, and yet not literally pulverizing Steve with that punch was all kinds of fucked up.
  11. Hopefully, Killer Frost will be there too (but not expendable; she is too cool and interesting to get killed).
  12. I agree. When I read the synopsis, I kinda felt like eh, but the trailer is quite winning and the leads seem to have nice a sweet chemistry. Also, one of my favorite movies ever was The American President, which shares some themes and a similar (not identical) premise. I am always interested in watching romantic comedies that try to gently shake up the tropes of the genre.
  13. That is BS (and you know it). First, we don't know any immortal, so there is no way of assessing at what age their immortality was "locked." If someone is born an immortal, who is to say that at a certain age they will stop aging? For all we know, a hypothetical immortal will continue aging for the rest of their immortal life and will eventually look like whatever a 500 year old person would look like. That age range you mentioned is based on BS social constructs that we all adhere to in regard to what is supposed to be attractive and desirable. So yeah, Angelina looks amazing (for any age) and she can definitely be Sersi.
  14. If RDJ can be Iron Man in his early forties up to his mid fifties and Paul Rudd can be Ant-Man in his mid to late forties, Angelina can definitely be Sersi at 43. I hate double standards...
  15. Huh? The only big star on that list is RDJ. How the fuck is anyone else "a big star"? All of them are high profile names, with most of them becoming high profile due to the MCU, but big stars?? Not even the two Oscar-winning women (Lupita and Brie) are big stars. And Renner, Ruffalo, Evans, Hemsworth big stars? In what alternate dimension?
  16. THIS. Yes, Maleficent was based on a huge Disney property that was a household brand, but Angelina and Mal were the perfect amalgam of actor and role, and there is no question that the film's success had as much to do with its star as with the brand. It's like many other stars nowadays: they may not sell every single film they star in, but get them in a role that fits them like a glove, and watch the box office grow.
  17. The ads for the Doom Patrol TV show intrigue me. Would you recommend the show? I am a supehero fan through and through, and I enjoy both DC and Marvel (although I would say I lean towards DC a tad more). However, I would never NOT see a film, watch a TV show, or read a book just because it is one company or whatnot. What do you like about the DP show?
  18. Why not, "I am not going to fight your derby...I am gonna end it!"???
  19. One could argue that Angelina's long stretches of time away from the screen add to her mystique. She is, IMO, one of the few stars of today who evoke the stars of old Hollywood...in terms of her aura of larger-than-life mystery and undeniable star quality. I also find it hilarious that anyone thinks that Cumberland is a bigger star than RDJ or Jolie. Seriously? When was Cumberland ever a movie star in the US?
  20. Yes. Poor big movie stars...stooping so low as to join these disgustingly lucrative franchises that can only lead to bigger paychecks, bigger stardom, and leaving a mark in future generations of filmgoers. Who would want that? Not Kate Winslet, who is the kind of actress who would NEVER join blockbuster franchises. If she did that, what would be next? Joining the cast of a Hunger Games rip off? Surely she would NEVER do such a thing. Right? And Meryl Streep??? NEVER. She is far too much of a respected actress to be in something as LOW as a superhero film or a YA novel adaptation (**Cough The Giver cough**).
  21. Get Charlize Theron for Thena and that way you have the two biggest female action heroes in recent times starring in the same MCU blockbuster. Win win scenario as far as I am concerned.
