Or maybe I'm over thinking and WB/Legendary are just going less risky approach, cautious rather than worrry, which they've gone for Monsterverse anyways. -
I think GvK got some leeway for being first popcorn movie after Pandemic by critics, in general i would say that it would've gotten bit more harsher criticism. And GvK is infact more crazy and all out than that. And no, I'm not using words like goofy or silly, i prefer to call it Over the Top.

Anything over GvK is good considering it did 476 million overall. China would be less but an increase in rest of the markets would put it in good position.

Post Minus One, everyone is like, Hollywood should learn from Japan & Toho. Believe me, they shouldn't.

I think by breakout they mean 200 something, even with good pre sales expectations are 50 million opening and 110-115 million lifetime. Which is while good for current situation, is hardly a breakout. Breakout here would mean 180-200 or even more.

Less money for human cast, with around 60 minutes if only Monster screen time, there's less dialogues and screentime for people. Plus cast is smaller, you have main 3-4 People you see in trailer and that's all, rest are extras.

KOTM took Itself too seriously with lore, connection and all that stuff. GvK didn't and it seems GxK isn't at all. Also one thing, KOTM had awful visuals with all those storm and weather effects, that's one issue GxK won't have.

So far where it stands, Monsterverse has 3 movies with 75-76% and one rotten. And i don't see these reactions that overwhelmingly negative as to say it's really bad or something. Reviews pushed to 28 doesn't necessarily mean Rotten, it could be more like WB not wanting even 60-70% range.

More reactions shall come eventually but i think they should be able to deliver the bare minimum required for the people. Also anyone, no matter how highly regarded he or she is in critic circle, tries to compare it with Minus One should be considered unreliable.

Well Kong is the cast at this point, humans are there for exposition. Kong is the character & the main actor.

SRK has created benchmarks this year, biggest star in the world for a reason.

I mean the B cinemascore means that people who watched it didn't like it. So i think it's the WOM from other people that is scaring people from watching it.

Maneesh Sharma made a Hollywood movie under the guise of Hindi Cinema, that's what happened. It was clear with trailers that were dull and music was mediocre. If you watch the movie, you'll feel no excitement, especially first half is a slog, second half has some parts that were exciting, but that's about it. While SRK cameo as The Legendary Pathaan is one of those somewhat exciting parts, the impact was missing, Tiger cameo in Pathaan was much more impactful and executed miles better.

Back in March 2022 when the both movies were announced, i thought that Pathaan will have greater hype just because it was the comeback of the biggest star of the industry. Plus SRK-Salman action packed cameo was novelty and fresh in Pathaan. And i knew that giving such a big budget Star driven vehicle to Maneesh Sharma was a mighty gamble. Maneesh Sharma already got SRK and screwed up, Now he screwed up with Salman, and this time in a genre which Salman is known for.

Yes but trends over the years change and while Diwali day is still not optimal, there are areas where impact of Diwali is from less to none. Also Diwali impact starts from evening na, Morning, and Noon are National Holiday levels.

MCU is not dead. Just that Endgame was THE END for the audience. Many people now just don't follow MCU Story or saga, they just pick & choose whatever project they feel like its worth their time. Earlier during Infinity Saga, people were invested in the bigger story so there was something of a factor where even the less stronger movies didn't used to flop, they would be successful in some way.
