  1. A whopping $670k Wednesday for Flash.
  2. Yeah I got it before Indy along with Demeter, Oppenheimer, MI7 and Expendables.
  3. I thought the de-aging work in Dial was some of the best I’ve ever seen. Did not notice it at all.
  4. So I’ve now seen this and my biggest complaint is simply that it’s far too long. This could have easily been a 90-100 minute movie and been much better for it. It’s not bad, but every set-piece scene overstays its welcome and by the time it winds around to the end you’ve felt every minute of its runtime. Otherwise, there’s a lot to like. Contrary to everything I have been reading, the de-aging work is fantastic. Might be the best de-aging effects I’ve ever seen. The sets and set-pieces are spectacular; it sure looks like it cost $300 million. The cast is great, the plot is fine, just unnecessarily dragged out and the fanservice more subdued than I feared. End of the day, 7/10.
  5. Quick update with shows set to start in a few hours. Indy is up to 137 tix, 59 for today, 47/9/22 FSS. Poor Ruby has still sold just one ticket for today. I didn’t have the heart to look at the rest of the weekend…
  6. It probably isn’t hurting receipts any that a big chunk of the country is being told to avoid outdoor activity thanks to all this smoke. Thanks, Canada!
  7. Over Under for both Under, out of theaters, all copies burned, WB denies ever releasing anything called “The Flash.”
  8. A little anecdata from my local Midwest Cinemark (all standard screens): Indy: 81 tix sold for the weekend, including previews, so far. 33 for Thursday, 27/2/19 for FSS. That’s actually better than I expected. Heavily weighted toward matinee showings, which makes sense if we are expecting an older crowd. Ruby: Poor Ruby. A whopping five, count ‘em, five tix sold so far. One for Thursday and four for Friday. If it breaks any records it looks like they will be all the wrong ones.
  9. Yeah this has been my thought as well. GA never cared, fans who saw it liked it but not enough to generate big repeat views, and fans who didn’t see it aren’t hearing it’s a “wow” so they’ll wait for streaming. Which at this rate it will hit in weeks if not days.
  10. Honestly, at this point if I’m James Gunn I’m taking the weekend to decide if I still want to do this. By the time Legacy is ready the well may not have just been poisoned, but dried up, filled in, paved over and then blown to atoms to make way for a hyperspace bypass. I’m a year older than Gunn and it sure wouldn’t be worth the aggravation for me, especially if I had his bank account.
  11. Well, the issue is The Flash didn’t have enough *viewers.* But if we put it on every screen, they’ll have no choice! Paid for Elemental or Spiderverse? Tough, you’re gonna watch The Flash and like it! It’s genius, I tell ya!
  12. Yeah if you dig around in that thread and later ones that seems to be the case. The version with the updated audio appears to have several other small changes as well.
  13. Aquaman 2 will do better than Dune 2 no matter when they open. No one gives a shit about Dune. No one has ever given a shit about Dune.
  14. I’m currently sailing in the Elemental 2nd weekend > Elemental OW boat. Pretty sure I’ll sink but the weather is great and bar’s stocked so feel free to hop aboard.
  15. My sources say yes. In keeping with the theme of this film it’s apparently formed from five lion robots…
  16. I think too many superhero films in general is an underappreciated reason for the soft or under performances we’re seeing. We’ve had something like 10 in the past 15 months and at least 4 more are coming in the second half of this year. I understand why, they have a big backlog to clear due to the pandemic, but IMHO it’s rapidly running the genre into the ground.
