  1. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. This is why comparing grosses is extremely difficult. Admissions is the best way to determine how big a movie truly was.
  2. Yawns, your claim isn't a fact either. Your posting percentages and acting like it means anything when there are so many other factors. It's as dumb as adjusting for inflation. As I said End Game would have had a much bigger percentage had it been release in a less competitive year this decade. This thread is about admissions aka. which movie was more popular and seen by more people. As you can see EG is the biggest original run of all time. So let's celebrate that.
  3. More blockbusters equals to less impressive percentage of the total. Not hard to grasp. End Game was released in one of the most competitive years of all time. Put it in 2013 and I'm sure it would have looked different.
  4. more blockbusters now. Also this is about Admissions.
  5. No one said they weren't big but they simply aren't comparable to the blockbusters of 2019. This is the most packed year yet. How many blockbusters were released in 1993 compared to this year? End Game is bigger than Avatar and DEFINITELY bigger than Jurassic Park. And lol at thinking anime is going to dominate anything outside of basement dwellers computers.
  6. Sony hasn't made a good live action spider man since 2004 LMAO. Disney saved them.
  7. Spider-Man's gross doesn't even excite me anymore.
  8. Yeah Alita was a really bad movie. I understand why he didn't want to rewatch it.
  9. I'm basing it off all the stuff I've watched. Captain Marvel was dragged by many for being feminist - specifically for the line about showing the boys how it's done. I don't see a difference in her personality compared to other female leads from other decades.
  10. Um because this whole Anti-SJW movement didn't exist back then. So many movies and tv-shows from the 90s and the 00s have strong female lead characters and no one complained. Xena always said snidely comments about men. She ended up with a woman. This would be hated on so much today. same with buffy
  11. A movie can be a cultural event. Don't tell me I have to explain a basic concept like this to you, little one? Why are you still using Avatar as the standard? Get with the times. The new king is End Game. Also 1.3 billion for Black Panther makes it the highest grossing solo movie of all time. MORE than Iron Man, Captain America and Spider-Man. Kevin will fix re-pair the X-men like he did with Spider-Man. FF are huge characters that will be done right finally Captain Marvel grossed 1.1 billion. Plenty people like her. A movie being original doesn't mean it can't have memorable characters. No one is excited to revisit Jackie Sulley or whatever his name was.
  12. Black Panther? Aka. the biggest cultural event of 2017. X-men FF Deadpool Captain Marvel GOTG 3 Besides why are you talking about this when Avatar doesn't even have one memorable character. Stick to your lane.
  13. 1 Avengers: Endgame BV $2,795.9 3 Captain Marvel BV $1,128.3 4 Spider-Man: Far from Home Sony $1,109.6 Total 5,033 BILLION DOMINATION
  14. This is the biggest load of bullshit I ever read. The 2nd biggest grossing movie of 1993 was Mrs. Doubtfire. While EndGame was released during one of the biggest years in blockbusters of all time. 1 Jurassic Park Uni. $983.8 $357.1 36.3% $626.7 63.7% 2 Mrs. Doubtfire Fox $441.3 $219.2 49.7% $222.1 50.3% 3 The Fugitive WB $368.9 $183.9 49.8% $185.0 50.2% 4 Schindler's List Uni. $321.3 $96.1 29.9% $225.2 70.1% 5 The Firm Par. $270.2 $158.3 58.6% $111.9 41.4% 6 Indecent Proposal Par. $266.6 $106.6 40.0% $160.0 60.0% 7 Cliffhanger TriS $255.0 $84.0 33.0% $171.0 67.0% 8 Sleepless in Seattle TriS $227.8 $126.7 55.6% $101.1 44.4% 9 Philadelphia TriS $206.7 $77.4 37.5% $129.2 62.5% 10 The Pelican Brief WB $195.3 $100.8 51.6% $94.5 48.4% vs 1 Avengers: Endgame BV $2,795.7 $858.1 30.7% $1,937.6 69.3% 2 The Lion King (2019) BV $1,435.2 $496.1 34.6% $939.1 65.4% 3 Captain Marvel BV $1,128.3 $426.8 37.8% $701.4 62.2% 4 Spider-Man: Far from Home Sony $1,102.8 $376.6 34.2% $726.2 65.8% 5 Aladdin (2019) BV $1,035.7 $353.5 34.1% $682.2 65.9% 6 Toy Story 4 BV $1,016.6 $424.4 41.7% $592.2 58.3% 7 The Wandering Earth CMC $699.8 $5.9 0.8% $693.9 99.2% 8 How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Uni. $519.8 $160.8 30.9% $359.0 69.1% 9 Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw Uni. $437.0 $133.7 30.6% $303.3 69.4% 10 Pokemon Detective Pikachu WB $431.5 $144.1 33.4% $287.4 66.6% Either way popularity of a movie is measured in admissions. So End Game is bigger than JP and Avatar.
  15. Because those movies won't be directed by Tarantino. He's the main drawing power behind all of his movies similar to how nostalgia sells the live-action remakes. If someone else made OUATIH it would have probably bombed.
  16. It's not crazy considering that the character has gone through 3 different versions in less than 2 decades. I still know people, that are completely clueless about the MCU tie-in, complaining about to many spider-man movies. The fact that it's grossing so much is a testament to how popular he is.
  17. It's not certified fresh. My point is if Disney were buying reviews they wouldn't settle for a measly 70% for a franchise on life-support .
  18. Wow I can't believe @NCsoft turned out to be an alt account as well. SHOCKING.
  19. If Disney were buying reviews they would have never let Solo get such a low score. It's one of their major franchises. The movie was already getting hate prior to it's release.
