Before IW/EG: Avengers 1 is the ceiling. There's to many movies already. The GA won't be able to watch them all. It's to limiting. After IW/EG = They broke records because of all the previous movies!!!!!

55 million for Joker is great. Looks like the movie isn't divisive. Anything above 700 million WW (which it will easily do) is a huge win for it.

Homecoming and Far From Home already surpassed those movies. They are bad. No matter how you spin it - the ratio of good to bad movies remains awful. The MCU has a far better track record. Anyone that's a fan of Marvel should want all the characters to be under the same roof. LOL at stale Wikipedia drags in 2019. You do realize that Wikipedia quotes all it's sources and you can verify them yourself? If you don't know how to use the site I'll gladly help you out. Superhero films isn't a genre. Again GOTG is nothing like TWS, even a 4 year old could tell you the difference. "Old man yelling at a cloud" Scorsese isn't relevant to this discussion.

If you standard for an enjoyable movie is as low as spider-man 3 and TASM then I don't see why you are complaining about the MCU LOL. They aren't a genre. You're wrong. A superhero movie can be any genre. The MCU has a lot of variety. I said Scorsese shouldn't be talking about anyone being generic/formulaic when he's made the same gangster movie multiple times. I'm aware that he's made other movies as well. Don't see how this is related to anything - except an attempt at deflecting from the facts.

Joker isn't genre pushing. It's just re-using the same ol' Nolan format which WB failed to replicate with the DCEU (MOS, BVS).

Spiderman 3 was horrible TASM was bad TASM 2 was horrible Like I said took them 15 years to make a good spider-man movie without Disney. The ratio of bad to good movies for the marvel characters is awful. Thankfully Disney bought fox and we will soon be blessed with amazing x-men / fantastic 4 movies! You are completely wrong. "Superhero movies" isn't a genre but a format of storytelling. So yes: Winter solider is a political thriller and GOTG is a comedy space opera.

3 good movies in a sea of awful (not even average) movies isn't worth it. It took sony 15 years to make a good spider-man movie again. The MCU isn't a homogenized product - it's a diverse movie universe spanning multiple genres. Prime example: Winter solider vs. GOTG.

The Hulk would work great as a dark story. His power is like a curse - almost like a werewolf. He loses complete control. Although I'm not sure how a dark hulk would fit in with the avengers.

X-men 3, Wolverine 1 + 2, X-men: Apocalypse, X-men: Dark Phoenix, Fantastic 4, Fantastic 4: Rise of the silver surfer, Fantastic 4 Reboot, Spider-man 3, Amazing Spiderman, Amazing spiderman 2, Venom is why Disney should own all the rights to the marvel characters.

Not at all considering that it has a similar vibe to TDK (one of the most loved SH movies of all time). It's the return of the "heath ledger type" of Joker. People have loved dark and grim takes on the Batverse for a long time.

The truth is that DC will get a hit movie as long as they make it decent with a well known character. Not once have they failed with that. Even panned garbage like Suicide Squad did over 700 million. I'm tired of seeing people act like DC is some underdog. They have a huge library of iconic characters that people are dying to see accurately represented on screen. 90 million for Joker isn't a shocking number - specially in the SH movie era. (Logan another R-rated SH movie opened with similar numbers) Also don't recall anyone laughing at Joker. It's one of their biggest characters - it made perfect sense to make it.

Not downplaying anything. It's a movie based on a huge IP so the opening weekend is not surprising. It's time to stop acting shocked every time a DC movie opens decently. They are not small indie movies with unknown characters.

Different opinions are fine. You just fall into the minority. The world prefers the MCU it's simple. Unpopular opinion: Aquaman is the best DC movie ever. The Dark Bore can't compete.

The last Joker movie opened with 133 million and it was rotten. This is a big decline. I thought it would gross higher considering that it looks like TDK's "sister companion".

Nah, what is subjective however is you thinking TDK and Joker are better. I have cinemascore + boxoffice gross on my side. When a movie grosses 2.8 billion there is no competition. It's the most loved franchise in the world. Your opinion is in the minority. Comic book movies tend to have inflated cinema scores due to fan rush. B+ for Joker is tragic no matter how you spin it.
