  1. I think Godzilla vs Kong is one of the more important performances in box office this year. Without that and Mortal Kombat things would've looked extremely bleak. Most impressive of the year? Eh.
  2. Venom 2 is an astounding success. Outopened 3 Disney MCU films, "low" budget for a superhero film and the third one will likely be huge depending on what Sony adds to it.
  3. Making Keaton the main Batman is such an awful idea. I do not see how that would excite anyone. I've been such a supporter of DC films since MoS so hoping all of the films next year are good but it's so disappointing that there's no clear backbone to the direction they're going. I guess we'll see how DC is in a couple of years...
  4. Matrix probably not passing TSS with the whole holiday season is really something.
  5. NWH just became the biggest grossing domestic Spidey film. Why would these Christmas eve #s warrant things moving? Lol
  6. Although I liked WSS overall one of the story beats near the end is really quite stupid lol
  7. If it opened to $100m... it would've gotten to $100m lol Legs would have been ****y though. No pandemic and the June release date I bet it would've had a multiplier below 2.5 even with summer weekdays.
  8. If it was only because of Top Gun they could've moved it to Fall 2022... I doubt Top Gun will be that big a hit tbh.
  9. Truly bizarre. In regular circumstances, WW1984 would've opened to $100m+, TSS 40m+ and Matrix would probably at least do $50m with a prime release date. Altogether they'll do less than $200m domestic lol It is crazy to think how far box office has changed from last Christmas though, so there's that! People really shouldn't say Marvel ruined cinema as without the MCU I do think studios would really pivot to only streaming. I think things will work out with theaters though thank god, it's just gonna be a while before non-blockbusters can do business like say, Knives Out (so sad the sequels went to Netflix...)
  10. If Matrix wasn't on Max there could be a case more people would check it out throughout the holiday but now it's just gonna flounder. It should've moved to January and opened MLK weekend.
  11. Yeah tbh WB taking the L for studios (including giving theaters business when theaters started reopening) is pretty fascinating. Crazy to think how WW1984, TSS and now Matrix would've done with full theatrical exclusivity, great advertising and no obstacles in its way. Honestly this just shows how "well" Dune did. Part 2 should be huge.
  12. What a way to end a really disasterous plan for WB. Matrix really could've been a huge opener (and then drop like a rock) but now it's just gonna make so little. Yeesh.
  13. Lol at King's Man RT audience score approaching rotten. I saw it yesterday and understand why it won't be that well liked. It's pretty low energy and has a couple of sequences that were entertaining along with a story choice I found annoying.
  14. Was scrolling twitter and saw a tweet reply from ERC saying not putting NWH on streaming was a missed opportunity... what in the lol what a strange account
  15. The Force Awakens absolutely had great reactions, at least opening weekend. Opening night was one of the most hyped screenings I've been too. It was exciting. It's so sad that nothing was planned and we got... that for the trilogy closer.
  16. I have to say... very much appreciate theater workers, this weekend is gonna be awful for a lot of them. Insane how people can't just bring their trash or not spill huge amounts of popcorn, my auditorium leaving an IMAX screening was an absolute mess. Sigh. But... yeah, this movie is gonna make b a n k.
  17. ... crazy to think that we haven't had 1 100m+ opener in 2 years and we're heading for a 200m+ opener this weekend. So the next film to open in the 100m range is The Batman.
  18. Wonder how crazy Tuesday will be for Spider-Man with the T-mobile deal. Literally all premium screens near me are pretty booked all weekend so weekday #s should be very strong.
  19. Got my tickets for Imax, decent amount sold for my showing so far. The split with Spidey and no Dolby is so dumb lol this should've moved.
