... the movie is pretty bad. Idk how the stage version; for me most musicals leave me feeling something but this was just unpleasant. -
Think May 20 would've worked if this had any chance to do well. Couple week after Thor and no humungous competition until Jurassic World.

Seems like they're dumping this. Having this smack between two huge MCU movies I think this will flop big time.

It would've been interesting to see how Malignant would've done without HBO Max. Most horror films recently have been doing $40m+ (even Don't Breathe 2 is looking to pass $30m) with solid multipliers, and Malignant is a pretty fun movie to see at a theater with a crowd, too bad it'll probably not even pass $15m.

All of WB's films flopping is pretty sad considering the strategy seemed to work earlier this year with GvK and MK, in which they were kinda the champion for theaters. This should've ended when everything reopened, committing the whole year was just idiotic.

I was on board with this. Some of the music cues and scenes made me laugh pretty hard. Idk for me the third act wasn't as shocking as I thought it'd be based on some reactions I saw but it certainly is memorable. Overall I enjoyed more than the average horror flick. -
Was expecting to see more Tony Leung pics. Disappointed.

I would understand if Venom kept that date but that is just plain idiotic. I guess they REALLY want to boost up Peacock. Good luck I guess.

Just like Guardians cemented first weekend of August I think this will be a new coveted date unless Shang-Chi has horrible legs (... it won't). Makes sense considering how many superhero films are getting made.

Even with inflated Sunday I expect a decent drop next weekend. Hopefully less than 58% and over $30m.

Lol at this being Disney's biggest (er... only I guess?) China grosser. I hope Shang Chi gets dated.

Can you imagine if The Suicide Squad was the only major blockbuster for August/September and it did the same #s it did, and cinemas would be branded officially dead? Free Guy and Shang-Chi may be some of the most important box office performances ever.

Let's gooooooo Sony moving Venom was such a horrible move. If Shang-Chi holds well it could #1 till Bond (unless Dear Evan Hansen does well, which is possible)

I rewatched Infinity War recently and idk... personally I very much prefer Endgame. Infinity War feels more like an episode of a TV show than a movie, which makes sense as its pushing toward the conclusion narrative of Endgame but idk. The ending is iconic though.

I think the film has a really strong first half and kind of loses its groove once they get to the father's home even though Tony Leung is excellent in this. Everything dealing with the dragon creatures... eh. Overall I think it's an enjoyable film but from the first half I was thinking this would make my top MCU films but by the end it's pretty on par with most of the MCU.

Deadline had BW at $40m+ for first update. Think D+ was a factor so I don't expect OD to go below 25m.

Don't think RT audience rating means too much but it still has a 99% rn. Would be really cool if this grossed more than Black Widow total.

I actually dug it. It's not great but the story kept me interested and I liked all the actors. Certainly didn't deserve that blasphemous opening. -
I really liked Black Widow *shrug* for me it was better than a lot of the solo MCU movies.
