I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but imagine how much worse things would be looking for it right now if Dune kept its release date and Imax screens.
There's actually a pretty gnarly moment that took me off guard, but a lot of the violence is off-screen and implied. A bit of jumpscares but not overly reliant. There are also some bloody corpses but that's as far as it gets.
Reminds me of when news outlets were doom reporting about Joker bringing in violent people in the cinema, only for a machete fight to occur at a Frozen 2 screening a month later.
I'm guessing -67-70%. Friday the 13th will probably be its one saving grace, but it will be interesting to see if Friday the 13th can't even save it from such a horrific drop-off.
If The Marvels is tracking like this, and if Taylor Swift can't get a $100M+ opening, we might not get a $100M+ opening until Deadpool 3, unless there's something else that's coming out I'm forgetting.
Do you guys think this will be submitted for an MPAA rating? If they don't censor any F-bombs, the movie would probably be rated R right? Highest grossing opening weekend for an R-rated movie possible? Or will it not be submitted to the MPAA and just smash the NR record?
