Amazing for Captain Marvel, what a huge launch. Interesting gender divide though and it played older. Just got back from the film, 3/5 from me.

3/5 from me. I blame the directors for a lot of the problems: first 20 minutes being so poorly lit, it looked like they filmed it in a garage in London. Zero interesting camera shots or angles. Fight choreography was far too close up, rendering them impossible to see or enjoy. The songs were perfect, but just didn’t have any strong impact when they were used. Brie was good, the friend relationship was great, Goose and Fury were great. Standard Marvel solo film quality (for me). At least they finally have a female hero with her own movie, after 20 films. Hopefully they get a new director for the second film and a proper story.

Nah, loads of people here have been giving crazy huge predictions for Detective Pikachu since the first trailer.

FWMF landed with a thud at the box office though. It’s #1 here in the UK, at least that’s something lol. The Rock would have you believe it’s been a huge hit in America going by his Instagram posts of course 😂

I avoided the film completely cause I found the animation in the trailers so unappealing. But hey it won the Oscar for its animation, lol.

Meh, I would wait for the next direct episode, instead of a spin off and a prequel.

I really dislike Civil War. I feel like it’s three of these notorious superhero film third acts all in one film.

Yeh it really shouldn’t play like a sequel at all, we’ve never seen this character before, anywhere. It would be very strange if it performed like a sequel.

I’m just glad both look to be huge. But I’m pretty sure Captain Marvel can manage a 2.75x multiplier from (at least) a $150m opening

This will be interesting if the overall majority of the weekend audience ends up being male.

THR tweeted an article about the film being “sandbagged” on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s audience score is 33% from 58,000 ratings. Sad people, lol. Those white male trolls are so noisy, yet always have zero impact at the box office.

Hmmm: Wonder Woman was 52% female for its first weekend. Maybe Captain Marvel can make up a bit over the weekend, unless it plays like every other Marvel film.

Marvels two biggest solo films are going to be the ones with a black lead and a female lead. Should’ve tried earlier.

Ant-Man and the Wasp didn’t reach $80m and that was the most recent release before today.

$150m gives it the 4th biggest March opening weekend ever, behind Beauty and the Beast, Batman v Superman and The Hunger Games. 2nd biggest Superhero origin film opening ever, after Black Panther (which BOM doesn’t count as an origin film, why is that??)

Unrelated but I just looked at the-numbers US combined dvd and blu ray charts and Mission Impossible Fallout surprisingly has not sold well. Skyscraper, Christopher Robin, The Meg have all sold more, and remain in the top 20, with Fallout already out of the chart. Surprising.
