  1. seems like this is about as good as the other modern films, even if less sophisticated. That's good enough for me. Beautiful visuals, emotion and character work is what I'm generally looking for in those kind of movies
  2. Man Panda 4 is going to get through the Panda 2/3 domestic totals within the next week. I wonder if it actually reaches 200M.
  3. A fun little anecdote. This isn't the first KFP movie to have an A- CinemaScore. The first one also had one too, which was followed by two sequels with A CinemaScore.
  4. I kind of want to know if 4 can literally take over every entry in the franchise opening domestic weekend-wise. I think 1 is at 60.2 so what are the chances it can be done? Also, say it does 55-60M opening domestic weekend, what are your predictions for domestic total?
  5. One thing to consider is that the RT verified audience score for Panda 4 comes from like 100 people. Not exactly vast enough to settle on audience reception. Maybe wait until it hits 1000 or something. Today is literally opening day lol.
  6. Panda really did wake the heck up. Since 50M is more or less guaranteed, let's see if it can hit 60M now.
  7. The reason 3 costs so much is down to them making a version with China language-specific lip sync. 4 doesn't have that so it probably won't cost as much.
  8. Won't flop imo. Aquaman 2 numbers for this would be pretty good considering that movie went into crossing almost 500m (and Kung Fu Panda probably has like half its budget at worst while each entry settled in the 500m or the 600m).
  9. The movie has been screened at UCLA for a bunch of students Wednesday.
  10. https://twitter.com/RamasScreen/status/1759240704797311394?s=20 Looks like critics are starting to see the movie on Tuesday.
  11. Been envisioned as a movie for the last five years it was in development going by interviews. The animation does seem up to theatrical quality at least.
  12. One thing to consider is that KFP movies historically do not have good marketing, like much of the time. You could've watched the trailers for movie 1 and 2 and when you got to theaters you would've gotten something that felt completely out-of-tone with those.
  13. Maybe things could be turned around if the movie has good word of mouth. Have you heard anything about the quality of the movie?
  14. Seems in line with the third movie on the high-end, which had a 143m domestic finish and a 41m domestic opening weekend. China brought to Universal 150m of its global 521m gross. Conclusion? this will probably have to rely heavily on China to break the 500m mark on global. I think even with China getting cold feet on it, it will have a good enough gross from it to reach 400m global, provided movie has good word of mouth and keeps up in quality with the rest of the movie franchise.
  15. I think now I understand where you got the idea for that song heh @AniNate, I believe it appeared in an ad for the movie but it's definitely not in the movie from what I can remember.
  16. Cloudy Day is pretty much the only one I can give the name off but I don't think I've heard that one (one other was associated with a salsa sequence but I don't think it was that one).
  17. got to see Migration a second time. Well, I got even more good out of it than on the first viewing, interestingly enough. what I noticed however, is that it seems there's actually three licensed titles in this (one in the penultimate scene and the other two are pretty much background noise)
  18. You know that makes sense. It's been a long while since they've done a character-driven movie (if we even consider the first Despicable Me like one).
  19. Trust me, it looks very beautiful. There's a very pleasant art direction going on.
  20. Saw Migration. It's good but not great. Definitely a better effort than usual from Illumination (actually well-structured main theme/main character arc). I think there's no licensed stuff bare maybe the penultimate scene (none in the credits too). They also don't split up the cast for the vast majority of the movie which makes it easier to keep/shift focus organically. I definitely think it's going to be their best reviewed movie since the first Despicable Me, and probably Certified Fresh at the very least, which hasn't happened in over a decade at this point.
  21. how are the last numbers for Mario? Seems The Numbers had two different figures going around both close to 1.35B, one over, one under. I assume it's going to pass Black Panther within a few days and enter top 15 highest-grossing movies of all time if it hasn't already.
