it seems like the reviews did not do Haunted Mansion any favors. That is why I am not on the 100 million train for this. Disappointing I was looking forward to this but I think it is a wait for D+ movie now. As for Meg 2 unless walkups are massive not looking good.

God was this show terrible. I wasted 6 hours watching this. This is the stuff that makes it really hard to defend the current MCU. Like what are they even doing?
Makes me love James Gunn even more that he made something as great as Guardians 3.

Remember how everybody was happy that Feige got to rule all Marvel? Turns out we were all wrong. Marvel Studios doesn't know how to make tv. Should be kicked out of tv forever. Give this stuff to professionals. And usually when Disney spends 200m+ on a project you can see it, this time I would check all the people who made it.

Too late for any major comeback. Plus Barbenheimer isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Best case scenario like $190M
Did not say it would have a major comeback but maybe just dig in there and be steady because you know it's a great movie, see it over stuff like the Meg 2. Just saying.

I think Mission maybe able to start legging it because this next month of wide releases is not exactly the most exciting crop of movies IMHO.

What is the next 100 million grossing movie? Unless Haunted Mansion is critic proof not happening. Nothing in August is a lock. Equalizer 3 maybe. The first 2 did but it appeals to the old male audience who are not terribly reliable right now.

Why do you keep going on about Mission Impossible 8 becoming the next JL, like it's not going to happen like ever and the previous comment about Simon Pegg descending into alcoholism, not cool either.
I got to beleive this is just shtick form Bad ol Cat at this point. because if not the complete and utter stupidity is just mind boggling.

What the post pandemic B.O shows us you need to be creative in your marketing. Barbenheimer was organic and generated from the ground up + Barbie has a natural multigenerational fan base.
Unlike TGM which had Cinemacon, Cannes and countless viral videos, MI didn’t have anything partly because unfortunately all the Late night show hosts were on strike and that they and released the trailer and premiered the movie way too late after months of doing nothing and Barbenheimer rake in all the hype.
Going a whole year without a new trailer was just so dumb. I know we keep blasting Paramount but TC is heavily involved in all aspects of these movies it seems so you wonder if he had a part in these marketing choices.

1.Inception
2.The Dark Knight
3. Memento
4. Oppenheimer
5.Batman Begins
6.The Prestige
7.DKR
8.Dunkirk
9.Interstellar
10.Insomnia
11. Tenet
Never seen Following and I would 9 of these movies a rating no lower than 8 and the bottom two at least 7.

Wait a minute we went from the meg 2 could be a hit to it’s gonna bomb now how did that happen so fast
I kind of feel like everybody was just being funny and nobody really thought it was going to be that big.

Maybe I am in the acceptance stage of Grief with DR Part 1 but 2.4 Monday does not seem too bad.The way the weekend was I would have not been surprised with under 2.0. Discount Tuesday should be at least 3-3.5 and and Wed and Thursday around 2. Haunted Mansion and Talk to Me will not hit as hard as Barbenheimer so I could see a decent drop for weekend 3 unless the chains shed a lot of screens now that they can.

Ok, now you're posting like an idiot, got it. You either can't read or you are just trolling. Not gonna explain something that a 5-year old could understand regarding IMAX and PLF. Have a good night, sir.

MI7 actually had 55% over 35 compared to 59% for Fallout.
The problem isn't about attracting a young audience. The problem is that unlike previous MI movies and TGM which had great holds, MI7 is just flattening out.
Take Korea and China for instance. TGM opened much lower in Korea but it had insane holds and went onto make $67m while MI7 will do $35m at best even though it had a much better start.
In China, MI7 was one of the best Hollywood openings of the year but it came crashing down from the weekdays.
Same with the US. I agree that last weekend was always gonna be rough but even the weekdays didn't show solid holds.
So while I'm still optimistic about things turning around and legs showing up finally and Japan doing for MI7 what it did for TGM and the movie ending above $650m, we simply need to acknowledge that it didn't connect with everyone else.
Again I'm pretty sure it's the overlong exposition and action which didn't have any 'newness' in it outside of the bike jump which looked better in the BTS videos..with DR2 doing action scenes which have never been done before, I definitely see DR2 being massive and challenge Fallout's B.O
I see what you are saying but I still think it is overstated that the WOM is mixed or not great here. Audience metrics don't back that up. A Cinema Score, 94 RT audience score and 8.2 on IMBD. It is mostly the marketing and release date that hurt it. If this had Fallout and RN's clear schedule in the following weeks, it would be doing the same I think.

not personal at you but amazing how quickly many here from swayed from OMG TOM CROOZE IS GOAT GOD! of last summer to their current sentiment towards MI7
I am happy about barbenheimer seem Oppenheimer and it a great movie but Mission is my favorite franchise and it just pisses me off to see how much Paramount shit the bed here so the jokes made at the movies expense do really tick me off. This is not the Flash or DCEU so let's not act like it is just to crack some jokes. .

What they can do to improve the box office is to bring along a few younger faces. TGM was obviously out of this world good, but Miles Teller and the younger cast really helped for that film to unlock the younger audience. They usually don't turn up in huge numbers for a MI film. TikTok is king atm when it comes to marketing.
I wonder if the reason they do not team him up with a younger hot up and comer is because the conversation becomes all about that person replacing him and they do not want that. Jeremy Renner was supposed to do that in GP and they changed that most likely when Mcquarrie came in and did the massive rewrites. And even Renner was 40 at that time.

If the new openers will combine to 240m again on the second weekend of DR2 then they are in trouble. Otherwise the franchise is in the right place. McQ said that they have no idea how they end the film. I always thought that it will be done like a finale. And it will be bigger and better than DR1, which was just a set-up for the fireworks that are coming in DR2. Air combats will be back. Cruise will probably do other stuff and maybe a few years down the road he'll do one last mission to show everyone that he can still do stuns at the age of 70.
DR Part 1 was setup. But it was damm good setup.

Interesting that the #1 film of 2022 and the possible #1 film of 2023 are both nostalgic movies but for different reasons and completely different sides of the political/social mindsets with polar opposite audiences. (but both somehow feature fit bodies on a beach lol).
Not much to say for that as a pattern except for nostalgia and that beach thing.
I think TG Maverick played as well to the Left as it did the right. Don't remember MSNBC and Liberal talking heads losing their shit over that the way FOX and odious shitbags like Ben Shapiro losing it over Barbie.

DR Part 1 is not a bomb. The flash is a bomb. If DR Part 1 was the big release on fathers day weekend we would not be having this discussion right now.

As much as it's pains me I am not even sure 180 is happening. Paramount are a bunch of idiots.

Yes.Lets keep up this narrative that the movie is getting a mixed reaction or something. Its not. Bad release that's it.

Donald Trump ran for president because obama told a few jokes about him at a white house correspondents dinner. It's not far fetched at all that Strauss would do what he did because he felt insulted and belittled.

At least this made more money than Indy 5, the undisputed flop of the year.
Should finish around 450WW
Its at 371 now. It will do more than 450. 500 seems like the minimum. How much more than that we will see.

Yes the losing of 1100 screens seems harsh but I got to believe those were fairly empty screens last week. That's why they are getting rid of them this week. It does not automatically mean it will drop another 50% or more this weekend. That being said Paramount sucks. I can't say that enough.
