  1. Yeah the Fall Guy is currently at 89% on RT and Red Notice is at 37% but at this point it feels like it's just pissing in the wind to get that across to people. Maybe people will start believing the movie is good when r other regular people start spreading positive WOM. Or not. Who knows.
  2. Sometimes a studio can throw everything against the wall marketing wise including having a good movie and it still does not work. What can you do. Just going to keep hoping it comes alive in the final week and has strong WOM and Walkups on the weekend.
  3. Well that A- CS sure did wonders. My dad and I seeing it tomorrow. I am going to keep trying to help the movies and theaters at least.
  4. I remember becoming aware of the movie when MTV had a movie show and in the fall of 93 they visited the set and I was like this could be a cool little movie. But then the first trailer dropped in the like Feb or March of 94 and that trailer just blew my socks off. An then the buzz about the test screenings and then when the reviews dropped it like was like holy shit. Saw it opening week and it was like right from that first time of seeing it that this was a classic action movie. It only opened to 14 million and then just kept hanging there with low drops every week and finished with about 120 million DOM. That is a IM of almost 9. God I miss those days when movies could do that.
  5. Goddam Netflix. And yeah Gosling has to take some of the blame for taking the easy paycheck for a mockbuster like The Gray Man. I feel like I am a broken record saying if people just looked at the reviews they would see this is not one of those pump and dump fake Netflix movies but it is what it is at this point. The genie is not going back in the bottle.
  6. Love the people around here saying they are seeing movies like The Mummy and Speed in the theater for the first time. Reminding me I am older than a lot of people around here. =). Those are some of my favorite rewatchable movies and seeing those in a theater in when they came out is something I will always cherish.
  7. I want to push back on the Fall Guy opening to only 25 next weekend but I can not right now. Sigh. I don't think it will really go that low but who the hell knows right now.
  8. When you say no sign of a big breakout do you mean you think it's going to do at least in the 30-40 million dollar range or possibly even go sub 30 for the weekend because that would not be good.
  9. Yeah ...I don't consider a Cannibal road trip love story mainstream but that's just me. But I like the accidental pun about people not biting. 😃
  10. Speaking just for myself If I am interested in a movie and it gets good to great reviews I see it in a theater most of the time. No I am not a teenager or college age kid who has no family to support I am a older person who has no family to support. Probably why I waste time on a BO office forum talking movies and such because most people my age don't give a crap about that stuff =). Another thing as part of this talk about whether people see the Fall Guy as not a movie you have to see in theaters. Why do the studios and theater chains not really look into variable pricing. Like say the Fall Guy would be a great $7-10 movie where as a tentpole like DP and Wolverine could still be 10-20 or whatever. Probably not going to happen so the mid tentpoles like Fall Guy will not break out to bigger numbers anymore., Not when shit is so expensive any more.
  11. Throwing out the high budget talk The Challengers is doing just fine it seems for a Tennis Movie directed by a guy that has not made anything close to mainstream hit movie yet.
  12. I mean are we really gonna do this with this movie. it's not like it's some mediocre movie that should have been just dumped on Netflix. Look at it's reviews compared to those.
  13. If the Fall Guy can at least open decently and have a good second week hold and Apes breaks out that weekend and then IF delivers on those tracking numbers and the Memorial weekend movies do well May not not be too bad relative to expectations.
  14. Sigh. It's like people went to the movies in March and said yeah we are good for the next few months. At the same time it's a movie about tennis and those never break out or make much money. Yeah just going to make the excuse for why another well reviewed movie may not break out.
  15. Previews start 3 months from today! I don't think the hype is there yet. 😃
  16. Well in the case of this movie the reviews are really strong not just a eh it's okay decent fun . So why shouldn't they go see it in a theater.
  17. If the budget was in the same 80-90 million range those two were that would be fine. It's that 125 million budget that's going to bite the Fall Guy and kill any franchise hope unless legs are really really great. With no massive 800lb movies in the month and good to great WOM still think it's possible.
  18. Can not wait for the trailer for this. Maybe some time in May like Furiosa or something no later than June with Horizon I would think.
  19. Great if true but this guy could have thought the same about Napoleon last year for all we know.
  20. As people said to me yesterday Just got to chill out. It is what it is.It ain't the end of the world. Hope for the best with WOM and legs.
  21. While not agreeing on the trailer looking abhorrent they are right esp in these post COVID times if the trailer is not clicking for people for whatever reason that would explain the Presales. That's why WOM will be important to this movie. People trust other regular people more than critics a lot of the times.
