Lol, take a few hours off here and you miss a lot. After seeing the ages of nearly everyone here, it is no wonder that this board and most of your opinions are the way they are.
The vast majority of you have never been through a truly hard work day in your lives. Most have grown up in a fantasy land of good economics, low interest rates, plentiful jobs and cushy working conditions. Mommy and daddy have taken care of most everything and student loans took care of the rest. Maybe you had to man a register at the local Target at some point.
All of you are in the "great resignation" generation, the generation that cries about being overworked and underpaid and very likely have never spent a day on a hot roof putting down shingles or detassiling corn in 100 degree heat or spent a summer pouring concrete to the point you pass out. Shit that paid you $5.15 to start and maybe $8 per hour if you were lucky.
VFX artists are paid market rate and their working conditions are more than adequate. They work on tight timelines, but they also work in air conditioned offices and have benefits and perks as well.
So many of you are in for a rude awakening when the next economic downturn truly hits, and that might be about 2-3 months away from happening. So many that have written shitty think piece posts and made silly demands from their work while being artificially lifted up by stimulus money are going to be begging to take a job when reality kicks them in the teeth.
Get ready, it's coming. The people who will survive it will be the people willing to work.
Wooooo lawdy. I agree, but let the young people enjoy their youth.

It’s crazy to me that we now have a forum full of people who weren’t alive for the Phantom Menace. Time keeps on slippin’.

Sorry but this is 100% false. The Phantom menace had a multiplier of something like 6.5 or something like that. Repeat viewings were definitely not a problem for Star wars because all the loonies ran out and saw it like five or six or 10 times. I remember seeing it at the theater in 1999 seven times over the summer. 400 million grossing films were not the norm in 1999. It didn't outgross Titanic but it certainly made a hell of a dent in the box office. Without looking it up I'm pretty sure the phantom menace was the second highest grossing movie of all time after it's run domestically.
Lol remember all those people who bought tickets to movies just to watch the teaser? Ah, life before YouTube.
I only saw TPM twice in theaters. I lived in a small town and the nearest theater was 30 minutes away. I wasn’t old enough to drive yet. I definitely would have gone more if it were an option.
I played the VHS a ton. TPM didn’t get a DVD release until 2001.

$140M for Elvis?
I was hoping for $120m and it’s looking to easily pass it. Older audiences seem to be moving on these legs.

Oof. This movie is problematic AF.

I was just thinking back to two years ago and how stoked are y'all to have this summer movie season upon us? Takes me back to 2019. ❤️

I liked Thor. 🤷♂️ Probably because Hemsworth has never been more jacked. I was picturing myself biting the pillow through the whole movie.

New trend? Girl.
Sunset Boulevard is going to finally win Glenn Close her Oscar.

Several retailers have added an August 23 release date for TGM on 4K, BD, and DVD. If that sticks, it would probably get a PVOD release a couple of weeks beforehand.

I forgot this was playing at 2:00 p.m. everywhere yesterday. Maybe not so shocking?

DAMN Elvis was good.

Hey guys. Please keep in mind that when I call people loonies I mean no offense by it.
As some of you may or may not know I'm one of the original members of The box office mojo forums. We started calling people Lord of the rings loonies back in the day and the term Loonie just stuck. I've been called a loonie a million times and I don't take offense to it and I don't mean any offense by it. So anyone who was offended by it please accept my apology it's just a term of endearment basically.
We are all here at these forums because we love movies and the box office. I'm not here to get under anyone's skin.
Shut up, loonie.

sometimes I ask myself what he does between movies, then I remember his awful song he released in the 90s called “everyone’s free (to wear sunscreen)” and think he must have a bunch of bizarre hobbies….He did have a one season TV show on Netflix in 2015.

Lmao those legendary Titanic legs. Still defies all logic.

The production on the song is super lackluster. I’m not surprised that it isn’t getting streamed.
It’s doing ok on radio, though. Top 20 on the Pop charts and top 10 on the Adult Pop charts.

Taking my mom to Elvis tomorrow. The Cinemark is all sold out so we got tickets at the IMAX theater on the Boardwalk.

I felt really really old when i learned that were now closer to 2030 than 2013.
Also, the year 1980 is now further away from us than 1940 was for the people that lived during 1980.
2030 is only eight years away, lol.
Ya’ll young as hell up in here.

I remember when I was young, idealistic, and ready to solve all of society’s social ills.
Then 9/11 happened.
