Look at the so-so JW. Other than the dinos & Pratt's presence, what else is there?
JW mostly writes & shoots itself, and Spielberg's around to supervise.
How many chances does Colin Trevorrow get?
JW & Trevorrow get a pass because the dinos made $500M so far.
Credit the T5 team for doing something different but they shoot
themselves in the foot for turning Connor into a villain.
Even if it works, it's a turn-off for the GA
Obviously nobody involved like this project very much. Even at the executive level. No one is interested in it, from top to bottom.
OTOH, you see a movie like Mad Max, another reboot/sequel/whatever which is done very well: The seamless CGI, stunts and camera work, supermodel Theron's willingness to roll around in dust & dirt, showed the cast & the crew are in it for 101%.
Maybe they don't like TV Folks (Alan Taylor, director, Emilia Clarke, Matt Smith) crossing over to Movie Land...?

With its older and less tech-savvy audience, Genesys' box office take will not be fully reflected in digital booking. There may be more walk-ups than you think
September
Transylvania may do more: $150M, trailer is great
Maze Runner will definitely do more: $130M
Black Mass is very grim & nasty: more like $50M
Everest may surprise and do $120M, footage looks impressive
Intern is a washout, remember the Vince Vaugh version?
Visit is about right
Mad Max has received overwhelmingly positive review on the internet. Very few films attract this kind of love outside of Matrix, LotR, Gravity etc.
What I meant was the ...whatdoyoucallit, pervasive atmosphere of dread, violence & repulsive decay. Those cancerous lumps on the war boys look gross. Don't get me started on the umbilical cord. Having said that Charlize beautiful dome looks very sexy.
I am sorry to say, if Warner is serious about this franchise they have to downplay the rating, the explicit violence & gore may scare away some audience.
I like this assessment. Like the disappointment of Ted 2, to should be noted that Magic Mike doesn't have the full force of Warner's marketing campaign in the weeks before its release date. OTOH, look at Paramount's relentless TV spots for T:Genesys
Hey, they could make the Universal logo morph into the title. Brilliant idea!
This could segue into MCU, with Pratt finally telling the rest of the team how he became
Star Lord.
Jurassic World sequel will be titled Jurassic Planet. This time it's war on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. Maybe InGen & Wu move the research to China and just like Transformer Age of Extinction, the subjects, this time bigger & "crueler", break loose from their lab onto the streets of Shanghai & Hong Kong. Maybe they would eventually driven out and settle in Taiwan, lol.
In the third sequel, the various multi-national interests would experiment on the genetics, and the resulting failure in containment would lead to: Jurassic World War. With actions spanning from Russia to Greece, from Syria to Afghanistan, from Tunisia to Somalia (bring back Omar "they never learn!" Sy). Finally they contacted Elon Musk to use his Dragon spaceships to dump the dino remains on Mars where no humans could touch & fiddle with their DNA, also serve as a totem of man's hubris, just like the Roman ruins.
