  8. Same as usual, folks: please post your topic title and URL in here when making a new thread! This will help us better archive and organize threads! International Forum Rules 1) Tentpole franchise film releases (Essentially sequels to proven films with strong OS BO performances) are allowed discussion threads up to 12 months in advance. There should be no requirement to be any earlier for International Rollouts. 2) All other Films are not allowed discussion threads until 3 months prior to the earliest release date. Unless it is agreed by the Moderators of the Forum. 3) International (All) CLUBS (for movies) are to be created in the Box Office Clubs Forum (Please mark them as International). Normal CLUB creation rules apply (see the Clubs forum for more information) Link here 4) Specific Country CLUBS (for movies) are to be created in THIS forum. Only 1 CLUB per country per movie is allowed (and it should make sense to that countries box office normal takings) and they can only be created up to 3 Months in Advance of the release date in THAT Country. You will need to provide a reasons why you created this club and the release date of the film OR this club will be closed. 5) If you find a Country thread is missing (and is not listed below) please advise a Moderator before creating a NEW thread. 6) General Clubs and discussion threads are also welcomed but as such you should review the threads below before starting (least a Mod should close that thread or Merge) 7) When creating the title don't shout (ie. ALL Capslock). The title should generally be in the format: "Movie" OS Thread | OS Total | "Comments etc" If you have any questions about the rules please speak to a Moderator or myself (PM). 9. Due regular time Still working on a pile of scoring...should have it sent to jajang for tomorrow 1) Will any opener break 15 million? NO 2) Will SOC fall less than 62%? YES 3) Will Sinister be the largest grossing film of the openers? YES 4) Will Man From UNCLE fall more than 45%? YES 5) Will Hitman make more than American Ultra? YES 6) Will Ant-Man and Minions both fall less than 40%? YES 7) Will FF stay in the top 10? NO 8) Will FF drop more than 60%? YES 9) Will Rogue Nation gross more than at least two of the openers? YES 10) Will any film increase more than 100% on Friday? YES 11) Will any film increase more than 50% on Saturday? NO 12) Will Vacation decrease more than 7% on Thursday? NO 10/12 3000 11/12 5000 12/12 7000 What finishes in spots 2 Sinister 2 3 Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation 4 Hitman: Agent 47 5 American Ultra 7 Ant-Man 2000 each 5000 bonus if all 5 correct Bonus 1: What will Compton make on Saturday? 5000 9.888m Bonus 2: What will Minions drop % wise this weekend...3 decimal spots... 5000 -37.845%
  10. yeah looks like i missed a total of 2 films also...... Compton and trainwreck were my missing 2 (I had fantastic four and pixels as the replacements..) EDIT -- boo pretty sure i would have had 14/15 but for compton.... (Pixels was about to displace Magic Mike XXL out of the top 15)
  11. my thinking is the finale effect could pull this over 550m without anything extra from China. while China can't be expected to improve on every movie, i think this can also get a china increase on top of the finale effect. 600m+ for me OS.
  12. you would think so given MIGP's result. but MIGP opened before christmas giving that film excellent legs while MIRN is opening during school time with holidays some time off. not saying it won't have legs but GP had a small advantage that got it to that excellent total of over 17m. 20m is ultimately the target here for RN, but more realistically we are looking at a result around 15m in my mind. look at what happened with MI3 which opened in May that year... 3.8m to just over 10m total.
  13. MI5 has held up well over the weekend.. i'd say it's heading for 5m+ for the weekend with that saturday. (thinking around 5.2m) that will be the 2nd biggest opening of the series below MI2's opening of 6.4m back in 2000. for comparison: MI opened to 3.9m on it's way to 15m in 1996. MI2 opened to 6.4m on it's way to 22.5m in 2000. MI3 opened to 3.8m on it's way to 10.9m in 2006. MI:GP opened to 4.1m on it's way to at least 17.5m in 2011/2012.
  14. Oh and some light rumbles from under our feet in SEQ 8 since Thursday to be exact.
  15. and thats the 2nd week i've missed.. not that i'm figuring in the top 10 anyway my SOTM choices have killed me this season....
  16. Just noticed that the numbers are now posting the Australian Top (well it goes to 53 this week) in USD and AUD now. (Looks like they have been posting since late last year.) http://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-chart/weekend/2015/07/24/Australia/AUD thats the weekend just gone. Fantastic hold by Ant-Man ~ only a 18% dip from it's opening. Trainwreck performing strongly in previews too. And where the hell did that Concert movie come from ? 3rd place on only 99 screens. JW nearly past 52m. I think it can make 53m but 54m looks a bit far off now after another heavy drop again. Inside Out is continuing to toy with 30m and i think it should pass the mark. (it's just shy of 29m atm) Minions is at 31.4m and i'd say it will pass 32m but ultimately fall short of 33m at this stage.
  17. Reviewing other questions that can be scored: First Bonus Question) Can't answer yet. Second Bonus Question) Can't answer yet Third Bonus Question) can't answer yet Triple Bonus Question 1: Will more than 3 films gross at least 110 million dollars Opening weekend domestically (3 day weekends count only) We are at 3 ... wait and see i guess.. Question 2: Will more than two films gross at least 50 million dollars on opening day? We are at 2 ... wait and see i guess.. Questions 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 All Answered and scored. Question 8: Will at least 5 films, listed as a comedy (could be sci-fi comedy...horror comedy...must have comedy listed somewhere in the genre ) by Box Office Mojo, make more than 120 million dollars this summer? I think this could be answered. only 1 film so far has made it (Pitch Perfect 2). Spy is 12m short so outside of a rerelease /boost it won't do it. Other films in release are unlikely to reach 100m let alone 120m. Even the most remote chance is trainwreck but i'm doubting it also. There is only 3 more comedy's that are wide release this summer..... I'm thinking it's a NO. Question 9: Will at least 3 action films released after May, have a WW gross of more than 500 million? I'll leave this one for now, but i'm thinking it will end with a NO also. wait and see for now. Question 10 answer and scored.. Question 11: Will any two films make more than 40 million in Russia this summer? This looks to be a NO. Just looking through the Russian Thread and the biggest looks to be around 30m USD right now. I'm going with NO given we haven't even got 1 film though it appears that Minions might be a outside shot of this total... Question 12: Will the top two films combined make more this summer than the next 5 films combined (domestic only)? So to avoid any confusion like we have last summer, the question reads like this.... top 2 spots add up to more than slots 3-7. Can't answer as yet. but as it stands the top 2 are up to 1.081B (should wind up around 1.095B i think). spots 3 - 7 ~ i should note that Antman should break into the top 7 and we also don't have MIRN or F4 as yet that could sneak in.... 1.05B with a lot of Upside i think... i'm thinking closer to 1.1B + here so i'd say this will be a NO... but we will need to wait to be sure. Question 13: Will any of the top 7 grossing sequels domestically this summer have a second weekend drop of less than 47.5%? ok as it stands, Mad Max Fury Road is the only Sequel so far to do this (-45.8%). It's currently the 5th largest grossing sequel this summer. It's safe as yet but it's a good chance so we will wait and see but as it stands, it's a YES. Question 14: Will Avengers, Minions or Jurassic World have a Saturday increase minus the preview number? So take out the Thursday number and you get the true Friday number. You guys know the drill. YES - JW did the honours... (63m Friday to a 69m Saturday) Question 15: Will Minions outgross Avengers in at least two of these regions this summer? France ~ AOU 34.3m vs Minions 29.6m (3 weeks in - likely minions win here) Netherlands ~ AOU 5.21m vs Minions 9.5m (minions win) Venezuela ~ AOU 17.95m vs Minions 26.8m (minions win) Hungary ~ AOU 1.64m vs Minions 2.4m and counting (Minions win) So I think this is a YES. The Ron Jeremy of all bonus questions) 1) Will Avengers make at least 600 million domestically? NO 2) Will Avengers make more than a billion internationally? NO (And I don't see it making it either) 3) Will Avengers do at least 25 million for previews YES 4) Will Avengers make at least 1.8 billion WW? NO NEW QUESTION) 17) This is a four part question. Again, you have choices. Answer any part of the question. Each answer you get correct you will receive 7000 points. Each answer you get wrong, you will lose 7000 points. If you go for all four parts of the question, you must get all four parts correct. If you get even one wrong after going for it all, you will lose 7,000 points. You can go for all of it, none of it and some of it. Choice is yours. ! Note*** Jurassic World does not qualify for this question A) Will any film listed as a horror OR thriller film by boxofficemojo.com gross more than 100 million dollars this summer? CAN'T ANSWER YET Will any film listed as a horror OR thriller film by boxofficemojo.com open to more than 35 mill? CAN'T ANSWER YET C) Will any film listed as a horror OR thriller film by boxofficemojo.com have a second weekend drop of less than 47%? CAN'T ANSWER YET D) Will any film listed as a horror OR thriller film by boxofficemojo.com have an opening day of more than 13 mill? CAN'T ANSWER YET Double Secret Probation Bonus Question) Very simple, but very dangerous. I'll give you a number, you tell me if Avengers will gross more or less than that number in said markets. 1) Russia: 42M LESS (34.2m) 2) Germany: 31.5M LESS (30.03m) 3) Portugal: 3M LESS (1.69m) 4) China: 200M MORE (240m) The "Hey maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events but we just got our asses kicked pal" question of debauchery.) Will Jurassic World and F7 combine to make more than Avengers in these markets? 1) Japan Likely YES at this point given F7 > AOU so far. 2) United Kingdom YES 3) Columbia YES 4) Mexico YES I won't look at the 25 Questions which remain beyond this... but from the above the following can be scored: * Triple Bonus Questions 11, 14, 15 * The Ron Jeremy of all bonus questions * Double Secret Probation Bonus Question The rest I feel will need to wait.
