  1. Another interesting fact about this year..... i've just been looking at screen averages this year... ** This analysis only takes into account films that open wide ** - No film is yet to get per screen average of 20k or more - the highest so far is 19.2k (anyone want to take a guess which film ?) and it was only on 359 screens - the highest for saturated wide releases (> 500 screens) is only a mere 14.1k - the widest release was x-men with 684 screens - by comparison, at the same point last year we had 1 film over 22k average and it also had the widest release of 631 screens (IM3) - in fact we had a total of 4 films open with averages > 15k by the same point (2 above 20k) while 2014 has only had 3 films average more than 15k on OW (and 1 of those was barely wide @ 108 screens)
  2. lets see how actuals play out but thats a great satuday hold... 70m+ OW is looking very likely at this stage. and the WOM / cinema score / Rotten tomatoes.. etc etc.. all point to an impressive film.. 200m is locked from here i think... 250m i think is well within the realms.. and while i do think that Kal is possibly pushing the envelope, he's not far wrong.. i do think that 300m is a chance here. but it will take some impressive holds in the comign weeks in saying that.. what competition does apes actually have over the next month ? sex tape next week ? (different audience) planes 2 (yeah right .. lol) hercules (I'm not seeing a success with this one.. frankly i see flop material) lucy (just not sure how big this will be but even if it is.. different audience again) Guardians (3 weeks time - is it's first real audience test) Apes essentially has an open market here with no real new competition for weeks... unless we are all misreading the positive interest in this.. don't see how this doesn't pass 250m at this point... Apes for #1 film of the summer ?
  3. Woot. I remembered this week (after missing 2 weeks running).

  5. fair question .. the figures are all as per Baumer's original post: Wordwide Weekends Question: baumer, on 29 Mar 2014 - 11:01 AM, said: the points i use an almagamation of the gross points and whether it's in the top 5 WW weekends...... hence if it's in the top 5 and you are within 10m then you get 100k (gross) + 25k (in top 5) = 125k
  6. no need for an update this week as domestically the next film that will impact the top 7 is Apes and worldwide, nothing even earnt enough over the weekend to make the top 5.
  7. I dunno.. 16m is pretty bad.. given it's a new lowpoint for Spiderman here.. though Spidey has never really performed at the same level as the US anyway, and i guess TASM 2 has held up against TASM better here than it did in the US .. still i consider it a disappointment. I really thought TASM2 coudl have turned it around and made it past 20m with the right film.. though it was more directly contending with CA2 here....
  8. it's up to 15.96m... scratch the idea of it reaching 16m.. it will fall short given it's all but left cinemas now... (if it's showing at all that is)
  9. The top 5 films of 2014 are (this is based upon released in 2014) 1. The Lego Movie 29.8m 2. The Wolf of Wall Street 23.3m 3. X-Men: Days of Future Past 22.2m 4. The Other Woman 20.2m 5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 19.9m If you include "Calendar Year" grosses you also have: Frozen 25.4m The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 20.7m For comparison last year: at the same point of the year: 1. Iron Man 3 39.2m 2. Life of Pi 28.3m 3. Fast & Furious 6 25.7m 4. The Croods 25.3m 5. The Great Gatsby 24.6m 6. The Hangover Part III 20.9m 7. Despicable Me 2 17.6m ** went on to make 35m something that Dragon 2 won't come close too ** Adding in Calendar Year grosses (from 2012) The Hobbit: An unexpected journey 23.8m Les Miserables 18.9m Wreck it ralph 18.3m we certainly have less 20m films and the top film is not even in the same league. so yeah .. 2014 is not going well so far.
  10. not quite yet.. TASM 2 is just short of 16m i beleive but i think it will just pass the mark in the end... still very disappointing.
  11. U could be right. The 5 WW could be done but there is an outside chance from either apes or guardians. Only 2 with a remote chance now. Domestically we a ways to go to settle the top 7. There are at least 2 films that should make it with a further 2 or 3 outside shots. I am almost certain that dragon2 will miss the top 7 domestically.

  14. here is BOM's official number (from the top 20 just posted in USD): 1 N Transformers: Age of Extinction PPI $8,309,287 - 623 - $13,338 $9,567,971 1 I think they need to tidy things up though......somehow 9.6m does not equal 10m ??? i think someone is being lazy FOREIGN TOTAL - 6/25/14 $202,100,000 100% $202,100,000 6/29/14 Australia PPI 6/26/14 $8,309,287 83.1% $10,000,000 6/29/14 China - 6/27/14 - - $92,000,000 6/29/14 New Zealand PPI 6/26/14 $1,617,593 93.5% $1,729,773 6/29/14 Russia - 6/26/14 - - $21,700,000 6/29/14 South Korea - 6/26/14 - - $21,500,000 6/29/14
  15. Australia's actual on BOM is up. 9,567,971 including the Wednesday opening day.
  16. given there is virtually no competition till thursday week for TF4, it should perform strongly over the holidays... The only film of note opening this weekend coming is Rio 2. following weekend is of Rise of the planet of the Apes. and someone should really tell ninemsn to update their upcoming film list... They still have Fast and Furious 7 due for the 10th July... (unless they know something the studio doesn't)
  17. Actuals are already in for Australia... 10.139m AUD which will equate to around 9.5m to 9.7m USD so it will be under i believe (if my conversion is correct).
  18. If scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find a button 'full version'. Click on it and it's like the normal web page after that. Especially great on iPads and tablets.
  19. Disappointing sat for TF4 though if look at the Friday # - thurs /mids then it's probably not far from expected. So best case :41 + 32 + 25 = 98? (Anyone smell a Porto Rico it over 100 coming from the studio? )
  20. Guys so we aren't always searching for the numbers from now on.. i've updated the first post of the thread to included the latest numbers
