  1. Ok lets summarize: BOM disappeared sometime on Friday? Sometime Friday night, it began redirecting to IMDB. There have been no posts by someone at BOM from either their Twitter or Facebook accounts since this happened. which are normally very active. No official word on what happened except speculation. HTTP headers indicate the redirection may be temporary. Speculation: Except the last point above, indications are BOM is gone. BOM disappearing is one thing but the fact their Twitter and Facebook accounts are quiet too is a big concern. (NormallyBOM posts Friday estimates by now) The headers could still mean anything. So no idea.
  2. So the question is, What is next ? Does Amazon merge IMDB into it's sales site... merging all the box office data it has into a single point meaning you can go and buy direct where the data is.......
  3. just played with some settings.. how does the post above look now lab ?
  4. wow... i go away for a day and the box office data world collapses in on itself... We should have all seen this coming... (still holding out hope it's just having short holiday while some errors are fixed - but my gut tells me we will get some kind of announcement on imdb soon telling us it's all over) I've only ever popped on IMDB to check a release date (international mainly) ... otherwise i hated the layout and it's quite confusing.... certainly none of the data thats on bom.. (or was)... bad bad bad amazon!
  5. Yo Chassmi... If Boxofficemojo is gone.. what are we going to base our official numbers on then ?

  10. Check the main thread in the box office forum. and also the scoring log in this forum. Chasmmi has updated already for week 1 with the scores This thread is about the Top 15 domestic preseason predictions & top 10 worldwide preseason predictions only.
  11. 23 Players have supplied a Domestic Top 7 Opening Weekend out of 23 Total Players who submitted a preseason. Across all players a total of 14 films were selected. 1 Film has since been taken off the calendar (James Wan Demonic) but only had 1 player prediction. Everyone predicted The Hunger Games, The Hobbit, Interstellar & Big Hero 6 being in the top 7. (I should note, everyone has also picked the hunger games as their #1 film) Penguins of Madagascar and Exodus were also popular. Of interest the film with the widest range in the predictions was the Hobbit. The following points are made in regards to player predictions: 1. Grey Ghost predicted "James Wan Demonic" in 7th place which has now gone TBD. Unless it returns to a date within the period, Night at the Museum as his 8th selection replaces it. 2. Some users have given a 3 day and 5 day value for The Hobbit and other films that are released on Wednesday. As per the original post all $ up until the end of the first sunday is included. Hence I will use the 5 day prediction in those cases.
  12. This is the thread where your Top 7 Opening Weekends will be tracked. Previously I tracked the worldwide weekends also but that has been replaced by World Hunger Games Challenge, which is position only (position only won't be known until the end of season). Scoring System for the Winter Game: B: DOMESTIC TOP 7 OPENING WEEKS NOTE: AN OPENING WEEKEND IS DEEMED ALL OF THE GROSS A FILM MAKES UNTIL ITS FIRST SUNDAY. SO IF A FILM IS RELEASE ON A WEDNESDAY IT WILL HAVE A 5 DAY OPENING WEEKEND. 2nd NOTE: BIG HERO 6’s OPENING WEEKEND WILL BE CONSIDERED AS NOV 7th, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER DISNEY DOES THEIR DISNEYLAND PREVIEW THING ALA FROZEN OR NOT. So it’s simple predict the top 7 OW of winter (plus a backup 8th OW in case of Calendar change) along with the predicted gross for the weekend. POINT SYSTEM: For each correctly predicted film, regardless of order you receive 10,000 points For each film in the exact spot you receive 5,000 bonus points (so 15,000 total) Call top 3 in order and receive 50,000 bonus points Call 5 of the top 7 correctly (any order) receive 75,000 bonus points Call 6 of the top 7 (any order) receive 100,000 bonus points Call top 7 (any order) receive 150,000 bonus points For every incorrect film lose 7,000 points GROSS ACCURACY: Call a film’s gross to within 1 million to get 30,000 bonus points Call a film’s gross to within 2.5 million to get 25,000 bonus points Call a film’s gross to within 5 million to get 20,000 bonus points Call a film’s gross to within 10 million to get 15,000 bonus points Call a film’s gross to within 15 million to get 10,000 bonus points Call a film’s gross to within 20 million to get 5,000 bonus points Call a film’s gross to within 30 million to get no bonus points Miss the gross by more than 30M and lose 10,000 points (You will lose these points even if the film doesn’t make the top 7 OW.)

  15. ok - i've tidied up the first 4 posts removing all the formating issues. should be a bit more readable now
  16. Nice opening for Gone Girl.... Finchers biggest opening here ever i think. Boxtrolls looks to have had a big boost over the weekend. see below for my calcs... TMNT continues it's run @ 20m... i think it will wind up short but it's running strong. As is Maze Runner. 15m looks likely at this stage. Fantastic opening for Annabelle (a lot higher than i was expecting)... For comparison, the Conjuring opened with 1.6m (1.7m AUD) on it's way to over 8m. Looking at where things were last week, my estimated result for boxtrolls in the above chart (in USD) The Boxtrolls (4 / ?) 2m (+77%) / 5.7m
  17. From Deadline Hollywood International Report... some #'s in USD for the Aussie Box Office: POS. Movie (LW / Screens) TW (I should note positions 2 & 3 are guesses based upon last week) 1. Gone Girl (New / 350) 4.6m (-) / 4.6m 2 / 3. The Boxtrolls ~ 5.7m total 2 / 3. The Equalizer (total is missing from report but it's the only film unless planes 2 somehow jumps ?) 4. Dracula Untold (New (-) / 213) 1.9m / 1.9m x. The Maze Runner (1 / 315) 1.85m (-30%) / 11.83m x. Annabelle (New / 166) 1.7m (-) / 1.7m x. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1.2m (-31%) / 14.6m x. Planes 2 ~ no idea what this made at this stage ?
