  1. I believe you. I have stood in line for movies way too much of my life. Especially when you add in those free advanced screenings. Used to go to those a lot, and you always have to be there at least an hour early and wait in line for a seat.
  2. Well all my friends know I'm the one who will almost always go to a movie with them if I'm not busy, so I get last minute offers all the time. So yeah, doesn't always work for me to know hours out I'm seeing something.
  3. It's worth it if you know what your plans are. I certainly don't always know when I'm gonna go to a movie with someone hour out though. And in those cases it kinda wrecks being able to go on a whim. On weekend or busier times at least.
  4. The only problem with reserved seating for everything is it kind of eliminates being able to go to a movie on a whim during busy times. I mean, even if the theater's packed there's always the chance you can show up close to start and maybe luck into getting a seat. The theater I have that is all reserved tends to be all booked several hours out on busy days or for a big movie. There's no spur of the moment moviegoing.
  5. That number on a Monday would honestly be more insane to me than anything it did over the weekend. 42 would be a 55% higher gross than the previous Monday record.
  6. Not totally true. Added an extra 11m to the total. If TFA were to finish somewhere between 750-759m it would beat Avatar's original run while still not becoming the highest grossing movie DOM.
  7. Tickets cost $1 million each. A million rich people see it causing it to gross $1 Trillion WW. Cameron tops the box office until the end of times.
  8. But TDK had an awesome second weekend drop for a summer CBM that broke the OW. It should have been falling 60% or more. TFA is not a CBM and it's not the summer it's Xmas weekend. I definitely think 45% is the worst it drops.
  9. Easily my rankings as well. TFA is great, but TA is one of the most fun and perfect blockbusters around. And my first screening of it still has to go down as my all time favorite theater experience. TFA is a lot of fun too, and probably has more depth, but TA set a new blueprint for superhero movies whereas TFA was more following a blueprint. TFA is just a little too much of a reboot of ANH to feel like the breath of fresh air TA did. TA doesn't get enough credit these days for its humor, action, or sheer fun. To me it doesn't get any better as far as those three aspects go.
  10. It legitimately took me a moment to realize that's not the actual scene from the movie. I mean that wouldn't have felt totally out of place by that point.
  11. That Sunday puts a sub 40% drop in play for next weekend. Yes I'm being totally serious. WOM is insane for Sunday to do that and Xmas is on a Friday.
  12. It would get tiring every year though. SW will not maintain this popularity as an annual franchise, that's impossible. That's why I'm hoping VIII is actually moved to December 2018. A nice two year cool down after the back to back TFA/Rogue One punches is something I think will frankly be needed.
  13. Indy 5 needs to be taken away from Spielberg/Lucas much like TFA was from Lucas or we will just get the same Indy 4 stuff.
  14. Not to rub salt in the wounds, since I love MJ2, but TFA's OW basically equals MJ2's first 5 weeks. Try posting that statement here a year ago and you may have been perma-banned for sheer lunacy.
  15. Just take it from TGD's weekend Disney. Love that movie too, but it is dead. May as well put it out of its misery and towards a good cause.
  16. Jurassic Park. I think Jaws before that. So basically once every 20 years we get a movie that breaks the OW and the DOM records. As if we needed more confirmation how special TFA is.
  17. Yeah, I really believe 300 was possible in the summer. But as I already said earlier in this thread, 250 in December is even more insane than that would have been in some ways.
