That's not all that great of a drop for The Martian given its still relatively competition deprived. If it's already dropping 40%, the holds will not be good come November and Spectre.

Oh good, so I can post about how Reek killed Sansa, Dany was killed by her dragons, Melisandre resurrected Ned to fight in Stannis' army, and Cersei and Tyrion hooked up after a lifetime of sexual tension in season 5!

Chef was two movies. And neither movie had a plot worth telling. It's just lucky it had a nifty little script to distract people just enough from that fact.

The beginning of November isn't exactly a time for two smashes though. If this does really well, I bet Spectre is doing worse than we think. Kind of an IS/BH6 situation, except with more for Spectre than IS obviously.

BoS's number is pretty good considering how poor the marketing was. With that Friday it will probably do around 18m for the weekend, and it's the kind of movie that I would almost guarantee at least a 4x multi for. So I'd say 70-80m total with that OW.

The Help probably should've won BP that year. True it likes the cliche and melodramatic tropes, but it's the good "Forrest Gump" kind of sap so to speak. It's a movie that is going to be around for awhile and is probably already a modern classic. I like The Artist more than most probably, but it's long forgotten already.

Pan is probably going to crash hard this weekend. I'm sure WOM is lackluster, and now two direct competitors to deal with.

45-50m DOM seems likely, so it just needs a solid 65m or so OS. Should be very doable.

I wonder what kind of Sat jump Goosebumps will get? Pan's was pretty abysmal.

There is something amazingly cool about the thought of the first screenings being midnights though. I haven't had a true midnight experience since DH2.
