  1. If AM bombs, all we'll need is for F4 to do the same and watch all the BVS/Civil War/Apocalypse predictions plummet.
  2. I got the "sneak peek" extended trailer dealy of Ant-Man with my Imax JW screening, and I swear it felt like it was never going to end. That one's fate is looking worse and worse by the day to me.
  3. Well I for one have always wondered if the Scots have feelings...
  4. Omg, this is awesome. I can't at that 2012 one. 2009's should have been "what if the elderly had feelings" though.
  5. I would agree if not for Pratt's star burning brighter than the sun right now. We'll see how that momentum looks 2 years from now when Guardians 2 releases though.
  6. F7's OS haul is still blowing my mind every time I look at it. I mean, JW is massive and even it's unlikely to get to F7's OS take.
  7. I could honestly see GOTG2 being bigger than the IW movies at the rate Pratt is going (and the dropoff for AoU).
  8. Maybe RDJ will go the Depp route and start desperately making horrible tentpoles now that he's been displaced at the top of the Hollywood hill.
  9. Lol, poor IO. Biggest original property opening ever, and it's being completely overshadowed.
  10. TFA could potentially be a 40-45% DOM share movie. JW is looking to be 40%.
  11. It will be interesting to see how a movie marketed on nostalgia most places will do in a market where it essentially has to be marketed as a new movie on its own merits.
  12. The rest of JW's run + Minions alone might get them there.
  13. I don't know what, if any, connection China has to SW? Zero idea what it will do there.
  14. Which was not even my intention with JW. Just felt the nostalgia factor in proportion to the WOM needed to be addressed, and then people who love the movie wanted to turn that into me being a hater. Kind of another annoying attribute of the human psyche while we're at it. If someone loves something, they can be way too damn sensitive towards that subject.
  15. Indy 4 had great legs considering what most of the WOM I heard at the time was. Again, nostalgia can be a big deal at the BO.
  16. Avatar is one of the best executed blockbusters of the last 10 years. Unfortunately, the plot and characters are a bit too conventional for some folks, hence why they rag on it. However, that discounts the fact that tried and true archetypes are fine when they're executed that damn well. The 3D spectacle was just the icing on the cake that really set it over the edge WOM wise. WOM would have been great regardless though. Yup, Cameron knows his shit.
  17. Ok fine, if he can say that then I can certainly say nostalgia is what's driving JW's WOM.
  18. Oh this is rich. Now you're going to argue with me that a nostalgia fueled sequel like JW is WOM driven, and then turn around and tell me a completely original sci freakin fi film wasn't WOM driven?
  19. Then how come every other box office phenom of this millennium got amazing reception upon release online? Even Avatar, which has it's share of haters now, had the internet exploding with WOM when it came out. I refuse to believe we can't find decent gauges of movie's receptions online. Too much of it correlates with box office to say otherwise.
  20. I love how I'm "attacking" a movie I gave a B+ and am saying has good WOM. This forum, I swear.
  21. God, why do you people not read my posts? I never said anything about poor WOM. I said every audience or critic gauge we can find shows that reception isn't amazing. Good, but not great.
  22. Maleficent wasn't a box office phenom. You're missing the point. The only two box office phenoms of the last twenty years that didn't get widespread acclaim upon release are TPM and JW. Both also have a huge nostalgia factor. But clearly there's nothing to go off of there.
  23. This forum, other forums, IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, my own anecdotal experiences. All of them are telling me WOM is not "great." Good sure, but there's a whole lot of people not loving it from what I can tell.
  24. Agreed, but don't agree on it being "great" WOM. Too many people disliking or being ambivalent towards it for that. Seems like good WOM with its target audience to me.
