  1. Bingo. Who wants to see a Colin Farrel, Z list studded remake of Total Recall, or a Bourne without Jason Bourne and hardly any action? Ooh and Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3, that oughta whip the general audiences into a ticket buying frenzy! The only movie that should have had a lot of appeal this month was TE2, and honestly I am surprised at it disappointing like this. But high profile movies disappoint all the time. It's part of the box office. Doesn't mean we should start using a tragedy to explain it. Hey while we're at it lets blame 9/11 for any box office slumps! I'm sure there can be some connection found there.
  2. You mean like how great the holdovers in general have held since then? Yeah that sure sounds like a great piece of evidence to me!
  3. In fact here are the holds for the top 12 the weekend after the shooting: 2 2 Ice Age: Continental Drift Fox $13,352,646 -34.6% 3,869 -17 $3,451 $114,899,860 $95 3 3 N The Watch Fox $12,750,297 - 3,168 - $4,025 $12,750,297 $68 1 4 N Step Up Revolution Sum. $11,731,708 - 2,567 - $4,570 $11,731,708 $33 1 5 4 Ted Uni. $7,353,150 -26.6% 3,129 -85 $2,350 $193,618,750 $50 5 6 3 The Amazing Spider-Man Sony $6,701,111 -38.4% 3,160 -593 $2,121 $241,953,721 $230 4 7 5 Brave BV $4,305,153 -28.5% 2,551 -348 $1,688 $217,329,672 $185 6 8 6 Magic Mike WB $2,619,128 -39.0% 2,075 -531 $1,262 $107,625,983 $7 5 9 7 Savages (2012) Uni. $1,838,215 -45.9% 1,414 -922 $1,300 $43,983,785 $45 4 10 9 Moonrise Kingdom Focus $1,434,904 -21.7% 853 -42 $1,682 $38,641,403 $16 10 11 8 Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection LGF $1,308,870 -41.9% 1,111 -429 $1,178 $62,736,167 $20 5 12 10 To Rome with Love SPC $1,000,279 -29.6% Almost everything dropped sub 40%, several even sub 30%. But yes, CLEARLY there was still such a huge impact.
  4. WTF? Go look at the next weekend. Everything had normal holds, several movies even had good or great holds. So what in the blue hell are you talking about me making no sense?
  5. Why don't you move the fuck on and accept you were wrong with your expectations? Stop using a tragedy to hide behind when there's bucketloads of evidence that the box office wasn't strongly affected after that weekend.
  6. I've responded to the issue plenty of times. OW was affected, minimal at best after that. Or did you not see how quickly the box office returned to normal after that weekend? So I'm not gonna keep feeding some of these ridiculous posts. Some of you will never admit to being wrong when there's a tragedy up for grabs.
  7. So a massacre is the reason it didn't meet your expectations huh? Pure class right there.
  8. Excuse me, do you live in Aurora and saw the impact firsthand? Were you at the memorial service held for those who lost their lives in the tragedy? Are you paying respect to their memory in your sig? No to all? Well then don't ever accuse me of hiding behind a tragedy that rocked my hometown.
  9. A very respectable and impressive milestone. Why some people ever thought it could do $500m+ or pass TDK is beyond me.
  10. When you have a meltdown your word diarrhea spews on anyone that gets in your way and you think you're justified to insult and say to them whatever you want. Well how's it feel to have a taste of your own medicine for once?
  11. Lol, you're one to talk. Noctis, the King of Meltdowns, is making fun of me because I get pissed at people USING a tragedy to justify how wrong they were. I don't care if I get warned for this, I never insult people like this but I gotta say it: damn you're an annoying, hypocritical little prick.
  12. You may not be a "Nolanite" but you're one of the biggest TDK fans on this board and you were anticipating TDKR like it was the second coming of Potter. So don't even try to deny your bias for the series.
  13. Did I once say anything about it not affecting midnights? I'm sure there still is a certain stigma with midnights. That however has nothing to do with the overall box office.
  14. An extra $20m just like I said!! Geez some of you are apparently illiterate.
  15. You're the biggest TDKR fanboy on the goddamn planet if you think it had a shot in hell at $200m with that midnight. That midnight was the STONE COLD PROOF it was never coming close to 200m OW. Every opener until TE2 has done exactly what was expected!!! Family films are doing fucking great, or have you not followed the holds of Brave and Ice Age since the shooting? So I'll say it again STOP HIDING BEHIND A TRAGEDY BECAUSE YOU WERE WRONG.
  16. Lol, I'm wrong and can't admit it? I'm not the one using a tragedy to hide behind my predictions that didn't come true. Fucking pathetic.
  17. Name me a sequel to a huge blockbuster that hasn't increased OS in the last 5 years. It doesn't matter whatever the circumstance, BIG SEQUELS INCREASE OS!! Geez what the hell do some of you not get?
  18. Oh god not the OS argument again. WHAT PART OF HUGE OS EXPANSION IN THE LAST 4 YEARS DO SOME OF YOU NOT GET! Seriously STOP USING A FUCKING TRAGEDY TO HIDE BEHIND RIDICULOUS EXPECTATIONS THAT WERE NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!!! Goddammit this is starting to piss me off.
  19. But we do know some things. We know it wouldn't have made 200m+ on OW with an opening of $160m. I'm sorry but anyone who think otherwise is a disillusioned fanboy looking for an excuse. And what a pathetic and disgusting excuse they're using.
  20. So you want me to agree with you just because your cousin is paranoid? Well if we're getting into anecdotes, guess what pal I live in THE CITY IT HAPPENED IN, and I know not ONE person who stopped going to the movies or didn't see TDKR because of it.And funny how the only people who think this are the ones that had ridiculously high predictions and expectations for TDKR. How very convenient.
  21. Oh for crying out loud that is beyond untrue! This is the first opener to really underperform since TDKR. Total Recall and Bourne did what they were expected on OW . And what about Paranorman? Look how well that's doing this weekend compared to predictions. If the shooting is impacting the BO for this long then it would be impacting everything.
  22. Hope it's good. It's a really fun action flick and with a 30m OW it will need the legs to not be considered a big disappointment compared to the first's performance.
  23. Yes you are right. We all can agree TDKR took a 20m or so hit on OW, but beyond that the effect was extremely minimal. Period, the end.
  24. Not true. Everything did pretty much exactly what was expected or even better except these:Dark ShadowsBattleshipPrometheusThat's My BoyRock of Ages
  25. It's about to get a helluva lot more boring. TE2 was the last high profile movie till November. Maybe Paranormal and Taken might give us 30m+ OWs between now and then, but that's about it.
