  1. Yeah sucks when one thing like that just kills you. I'm still ticked at the TDKR SOTM costing me 40k. I would still be in the top 3 if not for that.
  2. Denzel must be devastated too. He's like De Niro and Scott was like his Scorsese.
  3. I wholeheartedly agree. My opinions on films tend to coincide with the critics a lot, but that is one distinct case that I've always thought critics got dead wrong. How could you not love that movie? And Denzel was an acting tsunami in that movie.
  4. Damn that TDKR 4 parter! I just needed it to do $580m OS. I was sure I was gonna get that right a few weeks ago!!! And some people around here have been arguing that TDKR is meeting every expectation outside the US. Pff, obviously not since tons of people had it doing at least $580m by labor day. Well huge congrats to Dex, AA, and Jajang.
  5. What a horrible thing. I have to admit I did not know this guy by name until I looked him up and realized I've seen and enjoyed a crapload of his movies. I absolutely love Man on Fire. AND he's the brother of Ridley Scott! I feel bad for never having paid better attention to him now. Thoughts go out to his friends and family. Poor Ridley.
  6. Yeah and then we had a piss poor Holiday season right after. I'd much rather have the weak September and amazing Holiday season this year will likely see compared to the other way around. And there are potential breakouts this September too, its not like it's as bad as this past April's movies for appeal.
  7. Ugh, I'm sorry but China is such a damn backwards and out-dated country (in terms of their government). How can we even still have communism in 2012?
  8. Spoiler Alert and what the actual fuck did I just watch?
  9. Les Mis has a ton going for it that most musicals don't. Shawn already pointed out some of the big pros like it having all the awards buzz, being The King's Speech director's follow up, and being one of the most popular and well known musicals of all time. In addition to that it has a very appealing and well known cast, and I think the tone and everything of the movie fits the holiday season like a glove. Will be very surprised if it doesn't have great legs through December.
  10. The Hobbit + Les Mis.Although those won't be nearly as huge as that duo in gross, I think they'll be a knockout December pair.
  11. Even better reason for TH1 to hit $500m+ and the November family movies like Ralph and Guardians to have great legs into December.
  12. Yep. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong but I think we're in for a wild ride this Holiday. Never before have there been this many extremely appealing movies for the Holiday season, imo.
  13. These are my Holiday predictions for the big movies, and yeah I know I'm being super optimistic here but like I said I think it will be a huge Holiday season:Hobbit: $515mBreaking Dawn 2: $275mWreck It Ralph: $250mSkyfall: $210mRise of the Guardians: #140mLes Mis: $135mDjango: $115mLincoln: $115mFlight: $110mThis Is 40: $90m
  14. Well admittedly I have really high expectations for a lot of the Holiday films (Hobbit over 500, Skyfall over 200, Ralph over 200, Les Mis over 100, etc). So if it reaches the max potential I think it can it would be a pretty massive Holiday in admissions.
  15. Ah OK. Do you know where the year to date stands in admissions compared to '09 by chance? Cause like I said I really think this could be a record holiday season.
  16. TE2 will open a mere $2.5m or so ahead of Total Recall. That's just sad.
  17. Do you mean in gross? Cause the year is still over 4% ahead of '09 at the same point and this Holiday will be every bit as big as '09's, if not bigger.
  18. I don't care what anyone says about this summer, but this is damn impressive:1. The Avengers - $617m2. The Dark Knight Rises - $409m (and counting)3. The Hunger Games - $408mThat's our top 3 for the year and we're only at August! Crazy.
  19. :lol:You're definitely a glass half full kinda guy huh?
  20. Well something's gotta take the place of your Miranda Otto thread now that it's locked.
  21. I haven't seen a midnight number anywhere so I don't think so. Unless it gets reported in the weekend analysis on BOM or something.
