Star Trek was sacrificed so Star Wars could live on.

No offense, but I don't think you know what you're talking about. People (higher ups as I assume you mean) lose jobs for maybe bombs like Lone Ranger and John Carter (similar budgets and under $300m ww), not for hitting $750m ww when they were hoping for $850m+, etc. When you pubically put it out there in the indusrty trades you feel like your films "reasonable" expectations are for a BILLION---then, yeah, jobs are on the line.$750m is not a silver lining fallback

No one loses jobs for $750m ww.I'm guessing jobs are on the line at SONY if this falls under $200m domestic

I doubt itLet's go sub-$200 million!

Long term the ASM trilogy will be considered a failure for Sony. Didn't get the job done of effectively rebooting in an era when iconic franchises are crucial & that was to be expected w/ how close it was to the previous Spidey series.
They had to make movies or else they would have lost the rights…plus 3 movies and $2b+ ww later I don't think they're too upset. Sure, a little disappointed they didn't make more, but they still made good money when all is said and done.

Please, it's not just Sony. All the Sunday drops are low today.

Stupid money for Neighbors. Guess people were just in the mood for that kind of comedy right now. Welcome to the Frat Pack, Mr Efron.
I think people were just in the mood for a comedy in general…not counting chick flick TOW (yes I realize dudes may like it I just mean from a marketing and perception standpoint, etc), there hasn't been a real comedy since Ride Along back in January.
-
Notice how we are missing ASM2 numbers?
Sony is calling Puerto Rico right now.
Well if they are thinking such a crazy drop (increase?) for TOW, anything can happen today lol
-
Need to talk about the ads on this site...
With all the constant butthurt fanboys after almost every movie is released, that's perfect though!

Just off the top of my head, "hotter" and bigger actors atm are RDJ, Bale, Leo, Fassbender, McConaughey and I'm sure there are more. Nice hit for Rogen though.Prove me wrong.
-
All those horny twilight moms will be there to see sexy shirtless Zac today duhYea, they're giving it a favorable MD drop. That doesn't quite work for a film about a frat house.
yeah no way it doesn't drop more today lol

That's where I think it'll be (around) after Sunday's update.No the 420m.

lol not familiar indeedAre these predictions from a couple months ago or something? I can't believe Baumer would ever predict that much!Oh, and a score of 5,000 for being within $30m? Drew Carey would be proud of a such liberal spread of points. #notfamiliarwithBSG

-
What do you mean? I'm just guessing where I think it'll finish.Where are you getting TASM2 OS numbers from?
-
True, but it'll be around $420m os after tomorrow's update so another $100m is doable.perhaps. It would be nice if it could surpass the first. But you got remember it's been out overseas in a lot of places for several weeks. It's winding down its run in a lot of places.
-
It'll finish closer to 750 than 700. The $40m it's losing dom from TASM it's making up os so they'll both finish really close ww.probably more like 700 exactly thanks to the domestic underperformance. I am not even sure if the film will be profitable in theaters.
-
Ok, $750m-ish then ha. But it could crawl to $220m/$530m split finish perhaps.750? That might be a little high. It needs to make more than 500m overseas.
-
It's doing $750m ww though, it's fine.Thor 2 was 36.5 in weekend 2 with 145m total. 205-210m is where TASM2 seems to be heading.
-
I thought you just said you never saw them...Johnny Depp continues to be amazing in both 3 and 4. He was great in the 1st two.
-
More like 8 kids bought tickets to Oz and snuck into Neighbors...that theater be empty yo.This is the most impressive figure your theater has ever produced. Eight whole, living people decided they had nothing better to do on a Thursday night than see an animated movie that doesn't look fit to air on the Disney Channel circa 2005.

ftfyWhich reminds me I have never seen Pirates 3 or 4. Woo!

Google searches show this:They always said in Raiders there's an R2D2 and C3PO hieroglyphic in the scene where Indy and Sallah take the Ark from the well of souls, but I must be blind because I can never find it.
But I'll have to pop in my blu ray when I get home to check.
-
Been really busy lately but I'd just like to drop by real quick and lmao @ TASM2's 34-35m 2nd weekend.
Looks like Neighbors might be the next Hangover.
I don't think Neighbors will have anywhere near the legs or wom of Hangover.
