Loews Lincoln Square is always such a monster...I live in NY and love seeing imax movies on that screen...oh what I wouldn't give to see TDK trilogy on that imax screen again. At least there's Interstellar's 70+ minutes of imax footage to look forward to!Anyway, thanks for posting these numbers as always,And great ow for Cap2, well deserved, awesome movie.

  2. Is there really an answer to that? I'd like to know too.

Better release as more people willing to go out to see Cap2 opening night on a nice April evening than a cold ass night in Nov.  Plus buzz and reviews way better for Cap2.  More rush factor.  And Cap2 more a guys/fans movie…Thor2 had slightly more date night appeal for the ladies with the Thor-Locke combo.

  3. See, I agree with stuff like this. We know the Avengers are out there. And to have a stand alone film now where no other Avengers help out, to me, just seems silly.

I agree, I mean I get why they choose to ignore the others exist in the stand alone movies, but it's dumb. There's no reason they'd be fighting alone (by alone I mean without another Avenger member, and no Black Widow doesn't count) in any if these scenarios so far (IM3, Thor2 or Cap2).
  4. That Avengers Effect ramping up again!!

I disagree...I think this is more an "effect" of the excellent buzz and reviews. I thought the first CA was just ok, and one of the weakest stand alone Marvel/Avengers movies...but I was there last night with a bunch of friends because of the buzz and reviews, and I think others may have been too. Plus this time of the year is much better than when Thor2 opened. Oh and CA2 was awesome, should make a good run at $300m+ domestic. Will have great wom.

  5. Sci Fi has never gotten it's due respect with the Academy and there's no better film they could have been delivered to make up for that than Gravity. To me snubbing it will be equal to snubbing Star Wars. It needs to win the BP Oscar, but it probably won't.

The theatrical experience in 3D is a huge part of Gravity's brilliance, and unfortunately those are not things the academy cares about or likes very much (especially 3D). This will hurt its bp chances a lot and I think a Alfonso bd win will be victory enough at the oscars. Let's just hope that at least happens...as the academy picking the first black director you know is something they've been waiting awhile for and McQueen and 12yas is a good enough time as any.
