I'll pretend this tired argument wasn't brought up again...because with a $180-185m ow and no shootings...you're god damn right it would have made $500m!...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.Anyway, back to EX2...NOW can everyone agree the shootings have affected the entire summer! This is like 10 openers in a row, EVERY DAMN OPENER SINCE TDKR AND THE SHOOTINGS, that has underperformed!!Ok, I feel better now...phew, sometimes you just have to let it outYes you are right. We all can agree TDKR took a 20m or so hit on OW, but beyond that the effect was extremely minimal. Period, the end.

I agree...I don't need their crappy extrapolations, just give me the best Friday # you can. What's with releasing weekend estimates this early? Can't they be more specific about Friday?

Damn you best buy and it being so hard to find your exclusive digibook Jaws blu-ray!!! I want to watch this on BR so bad but I can't find it anywhere! Anyway, glad to hear it looks amazing on blu-ray, I've only heard excellent things about it. I'm also really looking forward to finally watching the documentary The shark is still working...I've never seen it and really glad it's on this BR.Just when I thought I couldn't love a movie any more than I do....I bought the BR last night and OH MY GOD! what a film. The job they did restoring this is nothing short of remarkable. For the first time in my life (I'm still a BR neophyte) I can understand why BR is so revered. I've seen JAWS more than 1000X, honestly, and I saw things last night I have never seen before. I could see a clock in Brody's kitchen, it read 7:45AM, that's when he got the call about the Watkins shark attack. I could see signs on the street much more clearly, the opening beach scene with the bonfire looks like it was filmed in 2012, not 1974. I could almost read the labels on Hoopers wine bottles that he brought to dinner. I have never experienced JAWS like this before and I can say I feel like this is perhaps the best $20.00 I have ever spend on a HV purchase. I love this movie already, this just elevates it to something new.

Thanks...damn, didn't even notice I was at that # already.Congrats for 2500 posts, nice milestone!

/threadKate wins this easily.

When you guys say school, I assume you're talking about colleges? Cause elementary, middle and high school don't start here (NY and the northeast) until after labor day (usually the day after).

I can't find this anywhere!! I checked 3 best buys today, argghhh!Soon to be: Jaws (with Best Buy exclusive digibook)
-
?...what movie are you talking about?I disagree. First it won't lose any screens this weekend. Second, the market can hold two action films. I think it will take a hit this weekend (55%) but it will have legs to hit 90 imo.
-
No wonder it wasn't reported.TR fri should end up just over 2.6

Ha yeah I totally agree. Also, definitely need a thread title change to $14m for TBL and so on.Would be nice if this thread wasn't polluted wit long rants about Whitney Houston.
-
$19-20mI meant this weekend
-
Was floored when I saw $18m od and almost $50m ow for Bourne in the thread title, but $15m/$40m seems more likely. But low $40s is still a great opening. Nice for The Campaign as well, and could care less about Hope Spings. And really hope TDKR can hit $20m.
-
Ah damn, forgot about Canada holiday causing little to no increase yesterday.
-
Darn, hoping it would be at $5m, oh well.

The terrible C+ Cinemascore is what we're using as the bad wom indicator.^^
Could've done a bit better. Maybe it'll go a bit more up with actuals. It's estimate was $24m-ish, now it's $26m.
Seeing as how it went from zero sellouts on Friday to a few on Saturday might mean it's overcoming the early meaningless bullshit RT score that people have been passing off as "bad wom". Maybe.

Oh nice, that's awesome. I definitely want to head back to the city and see it on real IMAX one more time before it's over.TDKR is keeping the film IMAX screens like Lincoln Square until October or November. Digital IMAX will go to Resident Evil in mid-September.
-
Yup, and the Lincoln Square IMAX will sell out probably every Friday and Saturday evening show until it switches to another movie (RE?). Alot of week night shows sell out still too (IMAX I mean).TDKR is selling out at AMC Empire(highest grossing theater in U.S.).NY loves batman.
