  1. MovieMan, you're absolutely hilarious if you think that TDKR lost only $20m on OW and nothing more after it.Are you fucking kidding me? It lost roughly $15m on opening day (no less than $12m at the very least). It probably lost $15m on Saturday and Sunday (just look at the drops). So, stop getting your knickers in a twist. I saw the film with my cousin in London and she wanted to leave in the first 20 minutes because she got scared of the guy sitting next to us because he got up to leave like three times every five minutes. The States was affected majorly.

It's been apparent since the day it happened that people outside the united states are completely out of touch with the event and its effect and impact on the box office here, etc.

  2. Yes you are right. We all can agree TDKR took a 20m or so hit on OW, but beyond that the effect was extremely minimal. Period, the end.

I'll pretend this tired argument wasn't brought up again...because with a $180-185m ow and no shootings...you're god damn right it would have made $500m!...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.Anyway, back to EX2...NOW can everyone agree the shootings have affected the entire summer! This is like 10 openers in a row, EVERY DAMN OPENER SINCE TDKR AND THE SHOOTINGS, that has underperformed!!Ok, I feel better now...phew, sometimes you just have to let it out
  3. Just when I thought I couldn't love a movie any more than I do....I bought the BR last night and OH MY GOD! what a film. The job they did restoring this is nothing short of remarkable. For the first time in my life (I'm still a BR neophyte) I can understand why BR is so revered. I've seen JAWS more than 1000X, honestly, and I saw things last night I have never seen before. I could see a clock in Brody's kitchen, it read 7:45AM, that's when he got the call about the Watkins shark attack. I could see signs on the street much more clearly, the opening beach scene with the bonfire looks like it was filmed in 2012, not 1974. I could almost read the labels on Hoopers wine bottles that he brought to dinner. I have never experienced JAWS like this before and I can say I feel like this is perhaps the best $20.00 I have ever spend on a HV purchase. I love this movie already, this just elevates it to something new.

Damn you best buy and it being so hard to find your exclusive digibook Jaws blu-ray!!! I want to watch this on BR so bad but I can't find it anywhere! Anyway, glad to hear it looks amazing on blu-ray, I've only heard excellent things about it. I'm also really looking forward to finally watching the documentary The shark is still working...I've never seen it and really glad it's on this BR.
  4. ^^

Could've done a bit better. Maybe it'll go a bit more up with actuals. It's estimate was $24m-ish, now it's $26m.

Seeing as how it went from zero sellouts on Friday to a few on Saturday might mean it's overcoming the early meaningless bullshit RT score that people have been passing off as "bad wom". Maybe.

The terrible C+ Cinemascore is what we're using as the bad wom indicator.
