I like Bill Maher(not perfect, but who is in media) and he's the only late/political talk show left I watch because it doesn't just feel like a bunch of tightly controlled superfluous bullshit. Colbert in a lot of ways has become what he used to parody/make fun of. That state-corporate media complex money is helluva drug.

After a rough first 3 episodes, these last two have been pretty good(minus the cringe kid of course ). The Whale stuff was weird but whatever. I'm sure Hayden Christensen loves being able to play Anakin again in a way that feels like a real person. He didn't even really feel like the same character as he did in the prequels which really further illustrates what a missed opportunity those movies were. He had the misfortune of getting very bad writing/direction in the prequels and unfairly got a lot of shit for those movies.

Yeah yeah I know nothing in Star Wars has had to make much sense for 40 years now, but I did find that distractedly odd even for Star Wars.

I think it will do quite well because people are starved for quality content, or at the very least something that feels different from the usual CBM / Disney fare(like Oppenheimer / Barbie). I thought Dune Part 1 was a bit too dry on characterization(didn't care that much about anyone), but fuck me it still felt like a movie made by a filmmaker and not some producer cohort like your Kevin Feiges and Kathleen Kennedys who just churn out crap after crap of middling sameness and tropes.

100% agreed on Edwards, Godzilla and Rogue One were some of the driest movies I've seen. Huuuge wait and see with The Creator. Napoleon is going to be the first really large scale bloody historical epic on the level of Braveheart and Gladiator so at the very least it has that going for it. Plus, Ridley Scott is still an insanely good production designer/cinematographer so there's that too. Or in cases such as these they could like...release the completed movies they have on schedule and stop pretending like they need actors for successful theatrical marketing campaigns in 2023. Barbenheimer, anyone?
