  1. Yup, the film still making a huge profit has just wounded them severely with it missing inflated expectations. Everybody is fired. Nothing is awesome. No more LEGO movies. Sry, if only it opened $10 mil more... maybe.
  2. Well this all established from the original film. The LCU takes place in a kid's imagination as he plays with his dad's gigantic basement full of Lego play sets on top of arranged tables (thus the "plates" falling into an abyss)... LBM is the same thing. If you're mad about this, then watch the original movie. All of your answers are there.
  3. I'll go see a regular Batman movie for that. Only a Lego movie can have Batman going against what he did here and I applaud the movie for it. Great decision.
  4. Another day, another unwarranted freakout about LBM doing 55 mil OW. That's still pretty strong despite inflated expectations, and there's a holiday weekend coming up. What's with all of the doom and gloom?
  5. I saw LB and it was fantastic and hilarious. The adults seemed to have the best time. That said, I can see this skyrocketing on Saturday and ending up closer to $60 mil. That's still a very solid number and will probably be able to jump to $200 mil. I don't see why that's any reason at all to panic but BOT be BOT I guess
  6. Moana's still going to make oodles of cash for Disney. Are you guys just upset that it's not making the Frozen amount of cash oodles?
  7. ...seriously It's like, at $120 mil already. You seriously think it will barely do $200 mil because of a film that comes out in three weeks? Are you for real?
  8. I've heard this film is an insanely bland crowd pleaser. So an Illumination film. It's gonna make money but please don't beat Moana... please...
  9. You were the dude who thought Dory was gonna bomb right? If you throw everything at wall, then eventually... however this will not be one of those times.
  10. Hysterically dark trailer, but effective. Before Moana when the trailer cut to black, a kid just chirped in, "Oh no!" Yea it worked at not making people roll their eyes. Good work, Pixar marketing team.
  11. Again, it's way too early to say anything about Moana. FB is just enjoying a delayed boost, but trust me that Moana will enjoy the exact same level of heft.
  12. Um, it's doing pretty great. It may not be exactly Frozen, but it's definitely not TGD. The word-of-mouth is stellar but that won't really show til next weekend.
  13. Heh Fantastics Beasts v Moana, huh? I guess I can see it. I'm marginally "team Moana" but I'd be lying if I said both didn't deserve success. Even on Thanksgiving people were asking me whether to see FB or Moana. I kept just telling them to see both. I think audiences want to see Moana, but there's also a delayed curiosity effect happening with FB. People aren't sure what to think, but now that some are spreading good things the film is enjoying that success. Both will be facing trouble with Rogue One and Sing, both of which will prevent both from going very much beyond 300 mil, which are still very strong totals for both and I think they will also succeed OS as well. Seeing an Inside Out/JW thing here IMO.
  14. I haven't been here in a while but I would be remiss if I didn't have a chance to root on Moana. I'm crossing my fingers that she beats Frozen's 5-day total. The movie can do it IMO.
  15. I dunno if I would use that many great thans, but yeah it's their best. I do like the tone and look of Coraline, however.
  16. Holy toledo! Kubo keeps sprinting onward despite losing a couple hundred theaters! Hopefully when it opens in more markets it does very well OS. I'm very happy it actually may end up on the higher side of Laika's grosses overall.
