  1. I love films from Laika, various DreamWorks (KFP/Dragon), Sony (Cloudy especially), I loved the Lego Movie. I love those films that present good stories, with wonderful characters. Illumination rarely gives that.
  2. Goddamn I have no idea what people see in Pets but I sure as hell am seeing the news and it doesn't surprise me that most are escaping to a relatively harmless animated comedy about pets at this point. I think it's safe to say that grimdark and "edgy" films are not in vogue with moviegoers right now.
  3. I remember being very excited for summer 2015, not so much this summer. Even two years back I just thought, "Wow this looks like a non-starter." 2017 doesn't fare much better but the sequels are a bit more promising. GotG 2, Wonder Woman, Kingsman 2, Alien 5, War of Planet of the Apes, Spidey Homecoming Of course there's also Pirates 5, TF 5, DM3 and Cars 3 but you can't win em all!
  4. I like alpacas, I like musicals, I like Gopher. Tossed in a contribution. Good luck!
  5. I think it misses $100 by a few. Lowball it to an solid $95 to 96 (which is... good GOD)... I still don't think it'll have that great legs, sorry. I just I don't. I'm seeing $285 to $300, about a 3x multi at best. I knew Minions would slow down and I expect the same of this. It's sad that Dory will miss $500 but at LEAST it's finally beating the animation total record. That's all I ever wanted.
  6. I would not be surprised if SLoP winds up on the lower-end of estimates. The highest praise I've seen is that it's "cute", and the screening I had this morning was super underwhelming in crowd response. Very, very curious to see how legs would be.
  7. Watched the trailer. It was just the last trailer just focused on the koala a bit more. Not sure what new to say that I haven't before?
  8. What else do you expect out of the guy who predicted that Dory would do under $200 mil DOM?
  9. Pets - 75 mil (Dory/BFG will prevent it from 80 mil) Dory - 24 mil Tarzan - 18 mil Mike and Dave - 16 mil (I think this is being a tad underpredicted) Purge - 14 mil BFG - 11 mil
  10. All it has to do is top $440 and that's all but confirmed at this point so I'm happy as hell.
  11. Mark Andrews has been supposedly working on a sci-fi comedy for awhile now, I'm willing to bet that will be their 2020 release, announced at the 2017 D23 Expo. I didn't care for Brave but that was due to the jarring tonal issues due to Brenda Chapman's quite large input. I think Andrews on his own could produce something quite special. WALL-E was more post-apocalyptic futurism than sci-fi, so a Pixar film about alien worlds and intergalactic travel could be fun. (unless it's a synergy thing and they're doing a Pixarian Star Wars spinoff) Bob Peterson is also working on another movie, freed from the sacrifice Sohn took for TGD, and Pete Docter is also already working on his fourth helmed picture (an original concept). We don't know anything about these, and probably won't for awhile. Of course, all three have gotten word out due to the directors' high profiles: who knows what a first-timer might be cooking up? Regardless I am excited to see tentative titles like, "The Untitled Pixar Movie About (Blank)" again.
