It's not arrogant to think people would want to watch 4 sequels to the highest grossing film of all time.

Take a look at the amount of shitty franchises which made money, because people went and watched the sequels.
Final point; See you at the Avatar 2 opening weekend m8
There wasn't a sequel to Titanic or ET (& rightly so), enough said.

In the case of Potter, i wasn't talking about the movies. Reading comprehension...
Calling someone arrogant for wanting to continue telling stories about something he cares about IS stupid.
I'll say it again, it's arrogant to assume the public wants 4 more Avatars when the story was clearly the weak link in the experience. It's that simple. Agree to disagree is fine by me.

You guys have to agree, insane we're in the mid 20s in # of films over $1b WW. Global expansion even in the face of some economic headwinds has been mighty impressive.

Will Jungle Book blow past 1 billion?
$1.5b really is the new $1b WW, it's becoming way more common a lot faster than even the biggest optimists predicted.

I thought it would get the bottom range of those multipliers, don't think it's that big of a deal honestly to have predicted higher than a 2.6x.

What a stupid thing to say. He clearly cares about this world he created and has a lot still to tell about it. The success gives him the leeway to do so. It has nothing to do with arrogance. I guess Rowling is arrogant for writing 7 books about a boy wizard, too. Or what about Marvel churning out movies after movies every year (sigh), those arrogant sons of bitches...
How is it stupid exactly? Avatar isn't based on a beloved book series or long standing comic book characters lol /comparison.

Odd battle to pick. Just a title. The name of their PI outfit I think.
I do think the movie accompanying it looks very meh but it's tilting when you could have literally chosen any other adjective & it wouldn't be as boring.

Its not even the movie so much as the title, didn't your English teacher in school teach you the rules of using the word "nice" guys?

I love how arrogant JC is to think the public wants four sequels, he's due for some big budget floppage IMO.

Is that the best you have?
No it's a serious ? I'm sure the movie is fine if the critics are correct but it's just so imaginative!

The Nice Guys is currently surpassing Neighbors in ads aired and it's the highest rated movie coming out next weekend. Money Monster was able to do 15M with less promotion and mixed reviews.
How lame of a title is "The Nice Guys?" Seriously...

EVERY SINGLE BIG MOVIE IS PIRATED THE MOMENT THEY ARE RELEASED. Jeeze it's like you guys are trying to make me mad. There were DVD quality rips of JW, TFA on torrent sites literally before they were released in NA. How many times do I have to say it? I feel like I'm getting leveled.

It has a 80M budget, regardless of whether it stalls at 300M WW or outperforms and does 600M WW, it is still a tidy profit for everyone involved. If it spawns a franchise, really good for them else everyone walks away with good money made.
They have spent a TON on ads, it looks like it will be "profitable" but it's clear (outside of HV spin offs which could be a route) there is nothing more there.

The short story is that some people blamed the high quality copy that got leaked for the cause in drop.
The swashbucklers won, while liberty and justice loses.
You mean TWO posters, BKB & No Prisioners. Then the forum spent two days beating the joke to death.

Sony wants a new franchise, believe me. But I agree, the games peaked a long time ago.
I bet it's one of those they regretted green lighting the moment it got into production.

I don't understand the rather large predictions for The Nice Guys. Especially when WB is being conservative and estimating a sub-3,000 theater launch.
Me neither, the ad campaign has been pretty suspect.

It opened on 74 markets, and LEGO Movie wasn't a big performer OS. I am expecting 300M WW right now, which is probably considerably lower than the number Sony is hoping for (which I assume is over 400M WW).
I think you are way off on this, Sony will be happy with whatever it can get at this point. It's a dying franchise that peaked 4-5 years ago.

Poor Jeremy Renner. As if it wasn't bad enough that he replaced the star of a big franchise only to be replaced with...the original star.

I know the Titanic point is a bit silly but it's there to prove that just because a movie makes a lot of money, there doesn't have to be a sequel (let alone 3 more after it). It's become so automatic in our culture & I sincerely doubt this world will be worth revisiting for the average person four more times.
