M&D # is not good, it may sneak to a profit but was clear from the marketing campaign it was a very uneven, generic comedy.

Except he hated the movie
Well, they can't all be winners. Of his crazy predictions this summer, this was his closest to good lmao.

Great ad campaign, people love their pets.

Wow, haven't been around this weekend just saw the $100m number. Insane, @Baumer you must feel a little redemption.

Only seen 3 of them.
1. Zootopia

3. Kung Fu Panda 3
Never would've guessed Zoo would be your #1...

Can I switch my domestic total predicts for Cap 3 & FD (know I'm not the only one)? Would be perfect!

Great weekend for Dory, Purge, CI, & The Shallows. Nice to see the breadth in the outperformers.

It was good but some of the moments felt forced, like they were killing characters and plots left and right just so they can simplify as we get closer to the end. Not a fan of any of the Lannister plot but Tommen committing suicide, that crazy witch was right. It's obvious Cersai won't survive through the end so what's the point really?

Who was with me on the ID2 was going to "bomb" from the beginning? Feels satisfying seeing the American public say no to another unwanted sequel.

How is that good for IDR lol. That's fucking horrible. It's good if you're thinking a 40 million dollar weekend is good.
CRUSHED IT

Looks like ID2 won't win the summer guys & gals.

Greek Wedding 2 was lucky to have only held the record for a few months.
Not really fair to either of the Greek Wedding films. This actually did ok.

I remember when it was rumored that the title for the movie was "Independence Day Forever Part 1" to be followed by ID Forever Part 2, and Neo insisted that those should be the thread titles despite everyone asking him to wait for confirmation.
Damn, he should come back! I loved his upside predictions.

It's not at all though, which is why it will fail so hard. Big spectacle (which was still disappointing itself) doesn't automatically get it into the "good popcorn flick" camp. There's more of an art to it than that.
MM im referring to the original not ID2.

You had to know these existential discussions about ID were coming this weekend... Look it's a good summer popcorn flick. Not sure why they felt a sequel was necessary but most of understand that's the business thesedays.

This is one of the oddest spots (clearly well done but oddly put together) I've seen but I was definitely intrigued by the end of it & it's not my type of film.

Who was holding them over a barrel and demanding 50 million dollars. I would have told him to piss off too. His star was on the decline at that point and I don't think it would have made any differendfe if he was in it. The marketing for this hasn't been great at all.
You don't root against films... Having said that would you be ok for many to get crushed with their high sky expectations on the opening for SS?

Shallows marketing campaign was outstanding, one of the best of the year oddly enough.

Look below at the club I bumped, that's what I'm talking about. It could've been close if Dory wasn't well recieved.
