Nice! 60M for JB on it's second weekend is crazy in hindsight. Hell, people were thinking it was going to make that in it's OW or even less. 300M+ is guaranteed at this point, WOM is incredible for this, everyone I know loved it. I hope it can hit 350M mark, either way it's a huge success for Disney and well deserved.

Who had Jungle Book's 2nd weekend beating BvS by ~$9m? It's incredible.

    Jesus Christ.

I saw a breakout coming (was thinking $93M), but this is still completely insane, especially if it hits $44M. That would match Alice's Saturday.

Really hoping the massive global total jump starts the stock next week ahead of big projections from Civil War. Film is a small component of Disney but there is a lot of upside surprise in the division this 1/4.

I'm gonna have to eat crow. I totally said that $100M OW for Jungle Book wasn't going to happen.

You weren't the only one, this opening has to catch the industry off sides. I think the expectations were much lower.

So if this opens above 100 (like I think it will now), will this affect Civil Wars opening in anyway from families who go to this instead of another super hero movie?

This doesn't have a ton of competition for families besides Civil War and Angry Birds all the way until the end of May.

    Angry Birds is DOA.

A $300 million bump in the road?  Jonah Hex was a bomb, but didn't coast that much...so a "bump in the road" (and it shouldn't have been made).  Watchmen underperformed, and could be categorized as a "bump in the road."  Green Lantern, which, by many accounts, cost much more than WB let on, was a creatively and financially a fiasco, a full-on shanda.  A huge investment down the drain, a write-off of significant proportions for the studio, which failed to start their "cinematic universe."

My point was more it was far from their first/last failure in this space.

Who came up with the expectations? WB would have liked 1 billion, but the film increased from the previous installment and created buzz for two future releases. Job done. BvS will be forgotten in a few years time just like IM2. Not to mention that the year is not over yet, SS might pull Deadpool numbers.

I'll take the other side of any optimistic SS club, I just think the hype on here is as overrated as it can possibly be. Shocking how high some are predicting there even after BvS opened.
