  1. Opening on a Wednesday means its weekend will be deflated, meaning it didn't "open" to 67M as you stated. That's all.
  2. Both can coexist peacefully like Catching Fire and Frozen. Doesn't BH6 come out a couple of weeks prior to Interstellar too?
  3. It's not a manga movie! It's just a comic set in a mishmash of San Francisco and Tokyo with the lead being Asian but many other prominent characters hailing from other races and cultures.
  4. That would be an excellent opening but higher is possible too given the superhero draw of the film.
  5. That's because Pocahontas sucked though. It had a HUGE opening.
  6. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is neither "too violent" for kids nor is Disney Animation "too juvenile" for adults. MI4 was a different ballgame that had nothing to do with Pixar. Here, this is a Disney Animation movie based on a Marvel Comics series. Both brands are directly connected to the film.
  7. You mean between The Lion King and Frozen. For Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph were all bigger than Pocahontas. Still think the marketing will make this huge. How are they not going to advertise "From the makers of Frozen AND Avengers" in the promos? The characters have potential to be fantastic. One in particular, Fred, is like a badass superhero take on the typical Disney sidekick character, while Honey Lemon is basically a superhero take on the modern Disney princesses like Rapunzel and Anna. Kids of both genders will eat it up and drag their parents to watch it. Parents too will be intrigued by the Disney Animation meets Marvel novel concept. That should ensure a HUGE OW. And I have a strong feeling the quality will be there to give it enormously strong legs.
  8. 261M off a 70M weekend are pretty healthy legs, IMO, if not overwhelming. Btw, one would think the movie would have been a bigger phenomenon given its quality. Was the reason for its relatively moderate performance the fact that it came out before the current peak of superhero craze that started with IM and TDK in 2008? If The Incredibles had been released now it would have made a lot more than it did ten years ago, that for sure. BH6 has the Marvel fanaticism working in its favour that TI didn't have, plus Frozen goodwill and the fact that it will have more heart (little boy building a robot in the memory of his deceased elder brother) than Incredibles gives it a pretty big edge over Pixar's take on superheroes.
  9. I think they put nerd glasses on her because she looks too much like Rapunzel otherwise. The same face for Disney girls thing is starting to be a problem.
  10. Wasabi and Gogo are perfect. Not sure about glasses on Honey Lemon. But not a bad design either. Disney must bring variation into their "white girl" designs though. Rapunzel, Anna and now Honey all look like sisters or at the very least, cousins.
  11. Plus a Harry Potter-esque twist of pre-teen/teen characters attending a school for "gifted" students. It will be a rich and diverse story.
  12. The story's closer to The Iron Giant than The Incredibles, but still very different from TIG too. It really has the potential to be one of Disney Animation's best yet! And that's what they need to sustain the momentum they have recently regained.
  13. It definitely was a demographic Disney and Marvel targeted heavily with all the tie-in toys, school bags and other merchandise for kids. There were plenty of little kids at both of the Avengers screenings I had attended. I remember reading articles in 2012 about how the film and superheroes became a kindergarten craze after that, with "superhero dress up" day and what not.
  14. Who are these 4-6 year olds who aren't allowed to watch The Avengers? The movie broke out to such an extent because it had much more kiddie appeal than Nolan's Bat trilogy.
  15. She's like, "These noob bitches aren't gonna cramp my style. I'll handle them swiftly".
  16. Trailers make it look so generic and weaksauce. They even wasted SLJ. Where is the catch and uniqueness? Dredd had a million more things going for it and even that didn't do well, so what chance does this have?
